I have a GTX 970 as my current GPU. I still have my old 660 in my box and I'm looking to improve my framerate in PhysX and Gameworks games (yes, I am talking mainly about Arkham Knight). How should I set the options in the Nvidia Control Panel?

Hi Jon, your most recent article is missing some important information. I've put a summary in the comments. Feel free to change it because I'm afraid that, the article in its current state, will only perpetuate the fck Windows 10 and Intel circlejerk. Thanks.

Hey buddy, We work really hard to make GD a nice place to discuss things and while there are a number of mistakes that crop up I encourage people like you to chat to the authors to help them identify spelling mistakes or data issues etc. GD is run on a shoe string and I work month in month out to keep this place running for everyone to enjoy. The writers are often helping people out or providing kind support that I find invaluable and delivers content for us all to discuss around. You have been a member on GD for a good amount of time now and while I definitely appreciate you helping spot problems there is a nice way of sharing those issues and a not so nice way. So please can you help out and not be negative about what is trying to be achieved on GD. If you are after letter perfect articles then perhaps GD is not the place for you, but if you would like to help and contribute in making GD a lovely place to chat with like minded people from around the world then please be considerate in your choice of words and definitely leave messages on writers walls to help them spot problems if they turn up. I reckon you are more likely to be the second type of GD visitor seeing as you are such a familiar face around GD. So I really hope you will keep helping. Big hugs F

Is it just me or is jumping on the Ryzen preorder bandwagon and giving in to the hype a bit premature? The CPUs aren't even out yet and we're all acting like it's the greatest product on Earth. Anyways, I just hope it won't be another Bulldozer (and all the other architectures based off of it).

The rep system on GD is hilarious. For someone like me who isn't exactly active rep goes up and down like on a rollercoaster for seemingly no reason. I do enjoy having +8 rep one day, -6 the other. Good stuff.

Hey buddy, I was wondering what you meant by this "Well done GD, your awful censorship now recognises the stars an an indication to make the text bold"? If there is a bug then please let me know. I do my best to keep GD going with the limited resource I have and any bug reports from fellow GD'ers is always welcome.

Just set the 660 as your PhysX GPU, should be pretty straightforward ^_^

Gaming PC build GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition, Core i5-6500 3.2GHz, 8GB performance review

When looking at recommended requirements for the top 1000 most demanding PC games a PC that combines a Core i5-6500 3.2GHz CPU with a GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition GPU and 8GB RAM is more powerful than 172 games specs. A gaming PC with this hardware combo has a bottleneck of Core i5-6500 3.2GHz. Once this component is upgraded, then the PC could run 631 games at recommended requirement.

Lets see how this PC performs with a popular game like Red Dead Redemption 2. In summary, we feel that the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition looks and performs great on 1440p resolution. So if you want a 1440p Red Dead Redemption 2 experience it will generate 94 FPS on Low 1440p graphics setting, 74 FPS when on Medium 1440p, 50 FPS when played at High settings and down to 35 FPS when turned up to Ultra on 1440p. You might still be looking for 1080p though to get some higher smoother FPS, where you could get 47 FPS at Ultra 1080p resolution. So something to think about.

2nd most popular game: Halo: Reach - To summarise, this is an easy one, the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition solution can play Halo: Reach at Ultra settings despite the desired screen resolution (up to 4K) you want to play it on. 4K Ultra gets 62 frame rate, whereby we see 104 frame rate for the 1440p Ultra and if you wish to look at 1080p gaming then 136 frames per second is the type of results. Using the graphics card launch price we calculate the cost per frame to look like this for the different resolutions - 1080p Ultra costs $0, 1440p costs $0 and 4K costs $0.

3rd most popular game: Cyberpunk 2077 - In summary, a good way to look at the performance with this GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 4GB Edition is to consider, do you want 1080p gaming with ok graphics settings or would you be needing 1440p resolution with bottom end graphics settings. Take a look at the following results to help you choose. 1080p Medium 63 FPS, 1080p High setting: 43 FPS, 1080p Ultra setting: 31 FPS, 1440p Low setting: 61 FPS, 1440p Medium setting: 48 FPS.
