Thanks for the responses guys. I probably should've said this already but it's not for me. My friend wants to stream but she only has a Pentium E6500. The motherboard is an MSI MSI g41m-p28 and supports basically all the LGA775 CPUs (and maybe modded 771 ones idk)

Go with the hyperthreaded Xeon. For a product released in 2007 its single core performance is lacking. You will get better performance out of a Xeon x3380 on the LGA 775 socket especially with the ram bus speed change to 1333 over 1066.

Is a core 2 quad cpu good for twitch streaming with obs? If so, would a xeon perform the same, or better?

Would it be worth it to upgrade to an i7 3930k from an fx 8350?

I wouldn't do it on a 500W PSU. If you really want to do it,look for at least a quality 650-700W PSU to be 100% safe. Trust me,never screw around with your PSU. I didn't take it seriously once, and it literally exploded from an overload. Lit up my whole room,I jumped off my chair hahaha

Is an EVGA 500w PSU good enough to crossfire an HD7870 with an HD7850?

What would be a good upgrade from HD 7870 for around $150-200? I'm thinking about either a GTX 970 or r9 290 but I'm still not sure. Res is 1050p

Gaming PC build GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac Mini 8GB, Ryzen R7 1700, 16GB performance review

A PC gaming machine that puts together a Ryzen R7 1700 processor, a GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac Mini 8GB GPU and 16GB system memory will be able to play 860 games from the top 1000 recommended requirements. The PC could increase the number of games it can run at recommended requirements to 946 if it upgraded its bottleneck component, the GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac Mini 8GB.

Lets see how well a gaming PC with these components performs on one of todays more popular games, Horizon: Zero Dawn. To summarise, we feel that with the GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac Mini 8GB you can enjoy Horizon: Zero Dawn at 1440p resolution pretty comfortably. The graphics card is going to run smoother on High 1440p rather than Ultra, where it would be getting 50 FPS. But when run on 1440p High it would get 70 FPS, and at Medium 104 FPS and then on Low it would return 132 FPS. The GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac Mini 8GB would also be good at 1080p Ultra, getting 66 FPS.

2nd most popular game: Microsoft Flight Simulator - To summarise, with this graphics card you do not need concern yourself too much regarding Microsoft Flight Simulator frame rates. Because Ultra graphics setting can be turned on across all resolutions up to 4K quite comfortably. We are seeing 4K getting 34 FPS, 1440p will get 56 frame rate and if you are interested then 1080p gaming can get 74 FPS. Based around the GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac Mini 8GB launch price, we calculate the cost per frame at different resolutions. 1080p Ultra frames will cost $5.14, 1440p frames cost $6.79 each and then the 4K costs $11.18 per frame.

3rd most popular game: Cyberpunk 2077 - To summarise, we feel that with the GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac Mini 8GB you can enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p resolution pretty comfortably. The graphics card is going to run smoother on High 1440p rather than Ultra, where it would be getting 38 FPS. But when run on 1440p High it would get 53 FPS, and at Medium 79 FPS and then on Low it would return 101 FPS. The GeForce GTX 1070 Zotac Mini 8GB would also be good at 1080p Ultra, getting 50 FPS.
