The latest Ubisoft Forward event brought us lots of new gameplay and trailers for some of their most anticipated games, however there were a few titles notably missing. One of which was Skull and Bones, which we keep hearing about and then nothing official ever happens. Well we finally got an update on development, and the game has a “new vision”, but we’ll have to wait until next year to see what that actually is.

If you were wondering why there wasn’t any new information on Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones when they debuted their live Ubisoft Forward event, then you’re not the only one. According to some rumors though, Ubisoft has reportedly decided to reboot the game as a live service model, with a continually updated and evolving world taking inspiration from Epic’s Fortnite.

Ubisoft has sadly announced during its financial results that nautical action game Skull and Bones has been delayed. Having been announced at the last E3, the multiplayer pirate adventure was due to launch at some point in this financial year, but Skull & Bones has now been pushed back for release in 2019 or 2020.

Ubisoft has released its quarterly financials during a fiscal call, and things are still trending upwards for the resurgent French publisher. Upcoming open-world racer The Crew 2 has already received more beta registrations than any game in Ubisoft’s history, while Skull & Bones has set the record for beta sign ups to a new IP.

Tucked inside Ubisoft’s blockbuster E3 2017 press conference was an all-new IP - Skull & Bones. Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones is a PvP centric online naval action game in which teams of pirates square off against one another in huge battles. Players can choose from and customise a variety of pirate ships before heading out onto the high seas.
