It’s well over six years now since Payday 2 inexplicably became one of the most popular games in Steam history, although if you’re holding out for the sequel you want to invest in some sort of cryogenic freezing pod. 
After the bank they made with Payday 2, it comes as little surprise to see Starbreeze has begun development of Payday 3. In fact, it’s full steam ahead with Payday 3 already at the design stage.
There’s a lot of moving and shaking in the world of Payday today, with Swedish publisher Starbreeze Studios announcing it has acquired the full rights to the Payday franchise from 505 Games. Its first course of action? Ditching microtransactions in Payday 2 of course. Its second? Announcing Payday 3.
