Age of Wonders: Planetfall has just released and it’s currently sitting pretty atop the Steam charts. That’s quite rare for a big new game these days, to be honest, as most are snaffled up by Epic Games.
Long the domain of beardy wizards, Age of Wonders: Planetfall takes the long-running strategy series in a trip to the stars and beyond. It's a radical revamp for the turn-based strategy series and one that 4X fans are keenly looking forward. Paradox Interactive has now revealed an August 6th release date for AoW: Planetfall, which is quite a bit further away than we were expecting.
When I read in the email that Amazon was going to be a faction in Age of Wonders: Planetfall, I can’t tell if I was pleased or dismayed to discover it wasn’t actually the all-consuming, gluttonous retailer itself. For a moment I pictured jetting off into the stars with Jeff Bezos as my sidekick. Together we’d conquer planets, enforce terrible working conditions, and avoid paying our intergalactic taxes together. Such japes.
Paradox has been busy this weekend, announcing Age of Wonders: Planetfall, alongside the earlier announcement of Imperator: Rome. Age of Wonders: Planetfall is the new turn-based strategy game from Triumph Studios, creators of the fantasy strategy series Age of Wonders.
