Supermassive Games, of Until Dawn fame, are gearing up for the launch of The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, the first game in the planned ‘The Dark Pictures’ anthology of horror adventures. Publisher Bandai Namco has just locked in an August 30th launch date for Man of Medan on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

This ghostly tale centres on four peppy young Americans out on a dive boat in the South Pacific. They’re on the hunt for a rumoured WWII wreck and of course, nothing could ever go wrong, oh no. Soon enough they find themselves trapped on a terrifying ghost ship, and it’s down to the player to make all of those crucial decisions which dictate whether they live or die a horrible ectoplasmic death.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is available to pre-order now, doing which will guarantee exclusive early access to the Curator’s Cut, offering up different perspectives on the story with alternate characters, different decisions, and new scenes not featured in a typical playthrough.

“The Curator’s Cut is different to the traditional Director’s Cut as it gives the player new ways to directly influence the story and its outcomes. Players will see and change events and relationships from the perspective of characters that weren’t under control in their first playthrough,” says Pete Samuels, executive producer.

There’s currently no Steam page for The Dark Pictures - Man of Medan, which obviously sets alarm bells ringing. Epic Games will no doubt be knocking on their door for that sweet timed exclusivity; let’s see how well they can resist.
