In our Mortal Kombat 11 PC performance report, we discovered it was a game that runs decently, but not without its fair share of problems. Most egregiously, the frame rate is capped to 30 frames per second at certain times, such as Fatalities, Fat Blows, cut-scenes, and menus. It’s really quite inexcusable in this day and age, but lucky a modder has already cobbled together an MK11 mod which removes the 30 FPS frame rate lock.

The mod comes courtesy on Endri Lauson, who’s created a pretty nifty tool that not only removes the default 30 FPS lock but also adds full 21:9 support for those with Ultrawide displays. Install this mod and Mortal Kombat 11 will have a new FPS cap of 60 FPS and Ultrawide support in all modes and menus, including the Krypt, Fatalities, and videos.

A quick word of warning though - The creator has acknowledged this mod does get flagged by some antivirus programs which may classify it as a keylogger because it registers your key presses in order to enable certain effects. Install this at your own risk then. Plenty of folks are saying it’s legit and works just fine, but you can never be too careful.

The mod itself can be grabbed from here, and it’s a pretty simple process to get up and running. Simply unzip and run the file ‘FpsCapRemover_by_Endri_v1.001.exe’, then open Mortal Kombat 11. Unfortunately, you’ll have to go through this process every time you restart MK11.

Once you’re in-game, pressing F11 will remove the 30fps cap while pressing F10 will removing black borders for Ultrawide display users.
