UPDATE - It's time to play the sad trombone. European retailer Media Markt has responded to the stories regarding its store listing for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC.

Sadly, as we'd suspected, the RDR2 PC listing is just a placeholder and MediaMarkt has received no confirmation as of yet from Rockstar. However, they do certainly expect Red Dead 2 to be announced for PC eventually.

"It’s true we had the RDR2 PC version listed," said a MediaMarkt spokesperson. "I checked this with the games department at our HQ and got told that it’s something of a placeholder and that they count on it being announced sometime in the future (just as with GTA V for example). It is no longer listed as available for pre-purchase, though."

Well, it was all fun and games while it lasted. If we're being brutally honest, there was no chance in hell Rockstar was going to leak the existence of a PC version so close to Red Dead Redemption 2's October 26th console release. The wait is now officially back on.

Original Story - 21-Oct-2018 - European Retailer Lists Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC in 2019

One of Europe’s leading games retailers has hinted at a 2019 release for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC.

MediaMarkt has a fresh store page for a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, alongside an expected release in 2019. However, the listing does have a placeholder date of December 31st, 2019, so there is the chance this is total guesswork on MediaMarkt’s part. Supply channels do tend to get wind of these sorts of releases early though, and Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release is surely a matter of when rather than if.

Rockstar’s open-world Western is arguably the most anticipated game on the planet right, following firmly in the footsteps of Grand Theft Auto V by launching exclusively on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

As you’d expect, Rockstar has kept schtum about the possibility of a PC release for Red Dead Redemption 2, trotting out the usual line that it prefers to focus its time on the PS4 and Xbox One version for now, and has no intentions for a PC version.

Over the last few months though, we’ve seen Red Dead Redemption 2 PC listed on a Rockstar employee’s LinkedIn resume, and rumours have persisted a port is in the pipeline.

The major caveat to all of this is the original Red Dead Redemption has still never made it to PC. There is precedence for Rockstar skipping the platform entirely, although that is leaving a heck of a lot of money on the table. Instead, the far more likely scenario is PC players will get an enhanced port of Red Dead Redemption 2 a year or so down the line.
