Somehow it’s snuck up on us but we’re zeroing in on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s worldwide release date. We’re close enough for Activision to push out a very premature COD BLOPS 4 launch trailer three weeks ahead of the game’s October 12th launch.

In the trailer, we get some impressively over-the-top looks at the three key pillars of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. With single-player gone the way of the dodo, COD: Black Ops 4 is now all about traditional Multiplayer, Zombies mode, and the big daddy - Battle Royale.

I guess my brain hadn’t quite computed just how bat-shit crazy the Call of Duty series had got over the years. It feels like I’ll only yesterday I was hurling stielhandgranates through the streets of Stalingrad, now we’re firing crossbow proximity mines, gunning down zombies, and, weirdest of all, heading into a Colosseum to battle with tigers. It’s all pretty nuts, but I guess if it’s what folks want.

Personally, I loathe the Black Ops setting, but in terms of offering a massive multiplayer package, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a tempting option. There’s something for just about everyone, whether that’s standard team deathmatch, co-op horde modes, or dropping onto an island with 100 other players in a battle to the death.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out on October 12th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
