Electronic Arts have achieved new found desperation in pandering to the Fast and Furious audience, but it’s difficult to argue that they haven’t nailed the vibe with Need For Speed Payback. For petrolheads, one of the biggest aspects of racing is, of course, the cars themselves. Not just what’s under the hood either, but the decals, racing stripes and gargantuan upside down wings that pass for spoilers. On this front, Need For Speed Payback should have us covered. The latest trailer delves into all things customisation, eking out greater performance from your V12 or pimping your ride.

“Endlessly fine-tune your performance through each of the distinct car classes (Race, Drift, Off-Road, Drag, and Runner), to turn the tables on the competition in any race, mission, or challenge,” explains Ghost Games. “Find abandoned vehicles scattered throughout the world to build your perfect car from the ground up. Collect, win, or buy the hottest after-market parts and craft a fleet of perfect driving machines.”

For those really looking to delve deep, in a first for the series, NFS Payback offers live tuning. With the press of a button this pulls up the usual tuning sliders in an overlay, allowing players to dial the settings in and instantly feel the difference in performance and/or handling. That should be pretty neat for amateur racers like me who don’t necessarily understand what all the settings are going to effect.

Need For Speed Payback is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 10th.
