Just in case you still weren’t sure whether its brand of ultra-violence was the game for you, Id Software has pushed out one final launch trailer for DOOM. It sounds and looks like Cthulhu shredding away on a Gibson, with enough gibblety madness to appease long-time fans and presumably hook in newcomers. Along with this id Software lead project programmer also announced an Ultra Nightmare graphics quality which hasn't been shown in footage yet.

This uber-demanding graphics preset for DOOM is above even the quality of Ultra, with Khan saying on Twitter it looks "mesmerising" on this graphics preset if you've got the hardware to back it up.

And that, as they say, is that. I have to say I’m kind of taken in by the prospect of DOOM’s single-player campaign, although I’m more than a little worried by the reception the multiplayer beta received. The perfect DOOM recipe has a great mish-mash of both; pull one of the pillars out and it kind of falls apart.

Ah well, we’ll have to wait and see next week when DOOM launches for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 13th.
