Rise of the Tomb Raider’s a gorgeous game, but if you really want it to look at it’s absolute best at sky-high resolutions, a dual-GPU setup was always going to be the way to go. If it worked, that is. After spending hideous amounts of cash of multi-GPU rigs, plenty of GeForce SLI users have been reporting some pretty dreadful performance in Lara’s latest.
It’s been a few days though, and fortunately some poking around has a resulted in what looks to be a solution for SLI problems in Rise of the Tomb Raider. The end result in benchmarks looks to be up to 95% scaling with multi-GPU setups, which is a massive boost.
To do it, just download the Nvidia Inspector Tool. You can find that here. It's lightweight and totally legit. Open the tool up and search for Rise of the Tomb Raider’s SLI profile. You’ll see it’s got DX11 SLI bits defined. Change this to 0x080002F5.
Once you’ve done this, click the magnifier icon to open up all of the undefined SLI options from Nvidia, and do a search for ‘0x00A0694B’. Once you’ve found it, change it to 0x00000001.
Get all that done and you should have some mightily efficient SLI scaling in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Which you’d think what with the official partnership with Nvidia, wouldn’t have been a problem, but there we go.
Anyone had any SLI performance issues in Rise of the Tomb Raider? Does this fix sort it out?
