Batman: Arkham Asylum packshot image
The game begins with Batman capturing the Joker after his latest plot, escorting him to Arkham Asylum for imprisonment. Due to Joker's recent attack on Gotham's prison, a large number of sane convicts have been transferred to Arkham. Joker, however has set a trap inside the asylum, using the its own impenetrable defenses against him. Batman must now not only try to escape from the hazards of Arkham, but also recapture the Joker and reveal his true intentions.
Gameplay places just as much focus on Batman's role as a detective as his combat prowess. Most of the game is played through an over-the-shoulder, third person perspective. It has been hinted that certain villains might be playable at some point in the game although this may be as an unlockable element after completing the game. Arkham was chosen as a location because of its limitations including the fact that it's located on an island. Arkham will be a persistent location that the player will be able to freely roam, including an area that serves as Batman's secret on-site Bat Cave.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Radeon RX 580 4GB

Low Vs Ultra Radeon RX 580 4GB Performance Review

Playing Batman: Arkham Asylum on the Radeon RX 580 4GB, which is a 3 year old graphics card will likely return a consistently high 200+ frame rate. Note that those results would be running at High and 1920x1080 screen res.

And so following those results you could of course play this at 1080p, but this GPU is somewhat wasted at that resolution. We would suggest running Batman: Arkham Asylum at 4K Ultra instead, where the Radeon RX 580 4GB would still get 200+ FPS at these performance hungry settings and resolution. When considering the GPUs release price, this comes in at $0.46 per Ultra 4K FPS or $0.27 at 1440p Ultra.

This is a powerful graphics card for Batman: Arkham Asylum and we can certainly recommend it to deliver 4K screen res at ultra settings. Get a system with at least 2GB of RAM though. The PC’s processor would also want to be around the AMD Ryzen R5 1600X’s performance to get a smooth experience.

To summarise, with this graphics card you do not need concern yourself too much regarding Batman: Arkham Asylum frame rates. Because Ultra graphics setting can be turned on across all resolutions up to 4K quite comfortably. We are seeing 4K getting 200+ FPS, 1440p will get 200+ frame rate and if you are interested then 1080p gaming can get 200+ FPS. Based around the Radeon RX 580 4GB launch price, we calculate the cost per frame at different resolutions. 1080p Ultra frames will cost $0.21, 1440p frames cost $0.27 each and then the 4K costs $0.46 per frame.
