Half-Life: Alyx

GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Low Vs Ultra GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Performance Review

The experience of playing Half-Life: Alyx through a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is going to return a reliable 81 FPS. With that performance recorded at 1920x1080 res when running High graphics.

With such a great performance found in 1080p we step things up to 1440p. Where we still see a solid 44 frame count in Ultra graphics, even on 1440p resolution. Or it could also get 55 FPS on Medium graphics at 4K resolution, if you wanted higher resolution. Based on the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti launch price, this would cost $15.89 for each 1440p Ultra frame, or a more reasonable $7.60 per FPS on Medium 1440p.

In summary, 1440p resolution shows itself to be the optimum performance vs visuals for the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. While it can certainly get a strong 1080p Ultra of 58 FPS, if you want to move up to 1440p on Half-Life: Alyx then we can see 1440p Low setting getting 117 FPS or the Medium returning 92 FPS. Change graphics settings up to High for 62 FPS and then Ultra gets 44 FPS.
