Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit is a 1998 racing video game, developed by Electronic Arts Canada and published by Electronic Arts. It is the third major title in the Need for Speed series, significantly incorporating police pursuits as a major part of gameplay. Hot Pursuit remains focused in racing using exotic sports cars, but features races that primarily take place in locations within North America, including varied settings and climates. In addition, police AI is significantly improved over its predecessor, utilizing several tactics to stop both the player and opponent. The game was released for PlayStation in March 1998 and later received an enhanced port for Microsoft Windows in September 1998. A PlayStation 2 version was developed, however it was cancelled. During the Electronic Arts Keynote on June 14, 2010 EA announced that a new Need for Speed game under the same name, scheduled for released on November 16, 2010. The game title's suffix, "Hot Pursuit", is a term for a police pursuit.

Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit

GeForce GTX 970 4GB

Low Vs Ultra GeForce GTX 970 4GB Performance Review

Booting up Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit with the 7 year old GeForce GTX 970 4GB looks like it will get a very strong 200+ FPS. And those results are assuming a 1920x1080 screen resolution at High setting level.

When looking at the recommended requirements for Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit we can see that this GeForce GTX 970 4GB is far better served running it on Ultra even at 4K, where it would achieve 200+FPS. But it could cost around $0.05 per FPS at 4K. Compare this to Ultra 1440p, which is a more reasonable $0.03 per FPS.

The GeForce GTX 970 4GB along with the right system memory, 0.032GB, is very capable of getting top FPS results even at 4K Ultra graphics settings. We would recommend 4K as the way to go here. Especially if you have a Intel Core i7-4770K 4-Core 3.5GHz processor or better.

To summarise, this is an easy one, the GeForce GTX 970 4GB solution can play Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit at Ultra settings despite the desired screen resolution (up to 4K) you want to play it on. 4K Ultra gets 200+ frame rate, whereby we see 200+ frame rate for the 1440p Ultra and if you wish to look at 1080p gaming then 200+ frames per second is the type of results. Using the graphics card launch price we calculate the cost per frame to look like this for the different resolutions - 1080p Ultra costs $0.02, 1440p costs $0.03 and 4K costs $0.05.
