The Darkness 2 packshot image
The Darkness II breaks out of the sea of conventional first-person shooters with its fervid Quad-Wielding gameplay, which will allow players to slash, grab, and throw objects and enemies with their Demon Arms while simultaneously firing two weapons. The game is layered with the use of dark versus light, steeped in deep and twisted storytelling, and engulfed in stylistic violence that is visualized through a hand-painted graphic noir technique that stays true to its comic book origins.
It’s been two years since Jackie Estacado, now the Don of the Franchetti crime family, used The Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend’s murder. He’s been unable to shake the memory of Jenny’s death since bottling up his supernatural power, and now The Darkness wants out. A sudden, unprovoked attack on Jackie’s life heralds the start of a full-scale mob war, which has clearly been orchestrated by some outside force. The botched attempt opens the door for The Darkness to reemerge, and sets Jackie on a journey to hell and worse, as he unravels the mystery behind the attack and the motivations of The Darkness itself.

The Darkness 2

GeForce RTX 2060 4GB GDDR5

Low Vs Ultra GeForce RTX 2060 4GB GDDR5 Performance Review

The experience of playing The Darkness 2 through a 1 year old GeForce RTX 2060 4GB GDDR5 is going to return a consistently high 200+ frame rate. Which is at High settings on 1080p performance.

And so following those results you could of course play this at 1080p, but this GPU is somewhat wasted at that resolution. We would suggest running The Darkness 2 at 4K Ultra instead, where the GeForce RTX 2060 4GB GDDR5 would still get 185 FPS at these performance hungry settings and resolution. When considering the GPUs release price, this comes in at $0 per Ultra 4K FPS or $0 at 1440p Ultra.

This is a powerful graphics card for The Darkness 2 and we can certainly recommend it to deliver 4K screen res at ultra settings. Get a system with at least 2GB of RAM though. The PC’s processor would also want to be around the Intel Core i5-8500 6-Core 3.0GHz’s performance to get a smooth experience.

To summarise, we are in the realms of who gives a crap, when looking at game hardware demands, because the GeForce RTX 2060 4GB GDDR5 card will play The Darkness 2 at Ultra settings almost regardless of the screen resolutions. 4K Ultra will get 185 frame rate, 1440p can deliver 200+ FPS, and the lower resolution of 1080p comes in at 200+ frames per second. For interest the cost per frame rate would look like this - 1080p Ultra costs $0, 1440p costs $0 and 4K costs $0.
