Core i5-3550 3.3GHz is a performance CPU based on the 22nm, Ivy Bridge architecture.
It offers 4 Physical Cores (4 Logical), initially clocked at 3.3GHz, which may go up to 3.7GHz and 6MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Boost and Virtualization are activated and the processor has multiplier unlocked.
The processor integrates relatively weak Graphics called Intel HD Graphics 2500, with 6 Execution Units, initially clocked at 650MHz and that go up to 1150MHz, in Turbo Mode which share the L2 Cache and system RAM with the processor.
Both the processor and integrated graphics have a rated board TDP of 77W.
Its performance is very good and sufficient for extreme gaming.

is it overclockable?
Planning to buy this:)
I have this one, and I want to overclock it. I am considering to buy to corsair H60, and then to overclock it to 4,0 Ghz. but I don't know how to do that.
can you guys help me?
this is not a "K" series processor so any overclocking you do will be limited to overclocking the reference clock. you will not be able to get to 4 GHz. If you want to overclock more than a few MHz then I would recommend getting the i5-4670K or i5-3670K. let me reiterate, this processor cannot be overclocked.
sure you can get 4 ghz (in turbo) and you dont need a water cooling just some good aftermarket one TjPJMusic is right that if you want to overclock better you should upgrade to "K" processors like 3570K
This one or Q6600 OC to 3.6 ?
This CPU is far better than Q6600
the fx 6300 its better? :D Thanks
no, this one beats the 8350.
-Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P Z68 Socket 1155 Motherboard and stay with my 6870 untill i get more cash what would you guys do please help im stuck .
need some advice i got mix thoughts i have a phenmon x4 965 4.1 ghz ,6870 (1gb) card 8 gig ram drr3 and im unsure weather to buy a 7970 (3gb) xfx card becuase im scare that my processor might bottleneck the card .SO either i go with that or buy Intel Core i5 3570K Quad Core IvyBridge Processor with
I HAVE THIS ONE
Why did you downgrade?
It is great!
is better intel i5 3550 quad 3.3 GHz with sandy
or
intel i5 3330 3.0GHz with ivy bridge
Its really bothering you that much? :-D 3350 is also ivy and its faster because of +300mhz,but difference must be around 3-5%
He mentioned i5 3550 and i5 3330, there is no processor named 3350 :P
no, no in my country in store 3550 is around 10$ cheaper but it have sandy and 3330 have ivy bridge so what is better?
So what do you have now? Because when i look at your rig it shows i5-3330
if you have older sandy bridge i5 cpu and want upgrade to ivy bridge you will see no difference in games, in synthetic benchamrks maybe 5-10% thats all
from that two 3550 is faster so its better
u see rig what i plant to buy for month or 2, so my question i5 3550 with sandy or 3330 with ivy bridge
I dont understand you
You mean hurricane sandy? :-D
sandy bridge is codename for intel 32nm microarchitecure, both i5-3550 and i5-3330 are based on IVY bridge -its sandy bridge stepping
Nope, no Sandy with Ivy bridge.
The i5 3550 is always Ivy bridge, it doesn't what country you are in. I think you are thinking of the i5 2550k which is Sandy Bridge.
tnx, i probably dint see well
all 3XXX series processors are ivy bridge, while the 2XXX was sandy bridge. But if you're asking which is better of the 2, it will be the i5 3550, but unless its cheaper than the i5 3330 don't bother to buy it cos you wont see any difference in gaming if thats what you're planning to do.
thank you alot
And at the end you buy i5-3470 :D
