It depends on the cooler. With a good CPU cooler you can reach 4Ghz no problem. With the stock cooler i would recommend nothing higher than 3,6-3,8 Ghz

the fx 8350 is actually only a tad slower than the i7 3770k, I know that from a person who owned both of them and the fx 6300 is as good as the i5 3570k. I'm talking about real world apps, tasks and programs and not synthetic benchmarks or game that use up to 2-4 cores. Many people don't take in to a count that games don't use more than 2-4 cores and that means that having any better amd cpu than the fx 4300 will give no performance increase.

That's precisely my point, FX chips are faster in SELECT applications, I have friends who own i5's i7's, and FX-63xx, and one person who owns the fx-8320.
Also, I'm sorry but, were on earth are you getting such information pal? The i5 CREAMS the FX-6300 in pretty much every app, I'm not a fanboy before you call that on me (My previous build had a Phenom II x4 965 @ 4.0GHz.), I've done my research, the i5 is the equivalent to the FX-83xx

ammm review tech usa proved that bro, he had an phenom II x6 2.7ghz!! not 3.3ghz, 2.7ghz!! and it rendered 1 min and 15 seconds(or 12% in that case) slower than his i7 3770k in sony vegas gpus were not used, but the i7 had an gtx 570 while the phenom had a hd5770 so even if the gpus were used the i7 ought to win buy much. Both PCs had HDDs although the i7 had a ssd which he didn't use just to make it fair.

also my brother has an i5 2320 3.0ghz, and I know it's not the fastest i5, but it's only 10% slower than the i5 2500k and the i5 2500k is only 0-5% slower than the i5 3570k and it is only 0-5% slower than the i5 4670k so basically it's still really good compared to the best i5 and I render much faster than him…he has the same ram speeds and amount as me, but he has a newer hdd…
Also I agree that amd lacks in many places, but not in rendering :)

So basically, you referenced the Phenom II's higher IPC over the FX architecture, and if you take a look at most benchmarks from most sources you'll see the opposite Case and Point. If that isn't enough
All of which are clearly rendering benchmarks, and how about a link to that benchmark?
I understand in real world tasks, like surfing the web, and other normal tasks, the difference is minimal.

Just to make it clear I'm not trying to say intel is worse than amd, cuz I make it sound that really often, it's obvious that intel is better, since they've got more people, their own cpu production and a lot of money, unlike amd which don't have enough money for their needs, also they are bound by global foundry and they have much less people, it's hard to expect them to be on top of intel, still they produce solid cpus and yes the phenom II has better IPC, but a 2.7ghz phenom II has lower…

…lower core performance than a fx 6300, though to be honest amd's arch is more efficient, cuz hyper-threading is nothing more than marketing, it's not really that good, because logical cores have only 1/4 of the performance of the physical cores, but still it's a good boost, but amd's all cores scale better than intel's
Also in V-Ray the fx 8350 is faster than the i7 3770k

Also you should keep in mind that the fx cpus are not utilized fully
most programs are still and will contiue not to benefit from more than 2-4 cores even if they use 8 cores, most programs, games and apps are just too simple to get any performance boost of the extra cores, they'll just spread the work load.
and there are instructions in the amd cpu that are not used for some reason, here is an example:

Yes, you will have a big performance gain! But, you should also upgrade the graphics card to something like a GTX 660 to minimize the bottleneck, but it is fine to keep it like this.

That isn't completely true. GD bases some of its ratings on amount of cores and forgets to take into account architecture. Core for core and gaming performance is much better on the 3570k. However if a workstation/rendering/computing monster is your thing, then go with the FX 6350 :)

Overclocked my i5-3330 by 25% and now, while comparing my overclocked 3330 to a non-overclocked 3570K here on GD, it showed my OC'd 3330 is 3% better than a non-OC'd 3570K. And the frequency of it is as same as a 3570K's base clock. Now, does it mean my 3330 will perform as equal as a non-overclocked 3570K?
