Is it a good idea to run this CPU with, perhaps, the Sapphire Radeon R9 290? I would really like to stick with the i5-3570K if I could for budget reasons

Yeah, but with a unclocked multiplier, this one is better than yours, :)

If you want to upgrade your CPU, maybe you'll need Intel Core i7-4770K or better, :D

Don't get me wrong.750 Ti and 3570K are good match with no bottlenecks, but unbalanced. Just said it would be a shame to put a that GPU which is not very strong to this CPU,which can handle even top high-end cards. But it's your choice ;)

Does this CPU work well the the AMD Radeon HD 7970? This is my current graphics card and I'm a bit curious to know if my GPU is overpowered for this processor. Thanks! ;D
