Should this CPU be good for my GPU or should I just go for Phenom II X4 955? I am afraid that the Phenom differs nothing from mine but the 2 more cores plus it consumes much more power. Any idea?

+1 for the 63xx series instead of the 61xx.
Also the 955be is still a solid cpu and would be a real good upgrade from your x2 should be cheap too.
But the 63xx is better then the 955be.

At your resolution, probably not. In most cases it is the CPU that bottlenecks the GPU.

No, the other way around. If you have a really high-end GPU like a GTX680 but you only have an FX-4100 for example, your GPU gets bottlenecked by your CPU because it cannot play all games at max settings 1080p. But when you have a high-end CPU like a i5-3570 or i7-3770 and you have a GT620 it's not like you CPU gets bottlenecked, but it just cant handle the graphics of a game. Games mostly ask power of you GPU.

At some things better, at some things worse. It might have a better gaming performance, but the rendering performance is worse because this one has 6 cores.

it is pretty good processor but i think you can buy 6300. it is actually very good processor for gaming it is ready for future games. pair it with a good gpu and you are ready to go. 500w PSU is more than enough to run it.
