FX-6100 is a high-end CPU based on the 32nm Bulldozer architecture.
It offers 6 Physical Cores (6 Logical), initially clocked at 3.3GHz, which may go up to 3.6GHz and 8MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Core and Virtualization are activated and the clock multiplier is unlocked, meaning it can be overclocked easily.
The processor DOES NOT integrated any graphics. and has a rated board TDP of 95W.
It is a powerful Hexa Core whose performance is good. It's thus capable of running most applications smoothly without any problem.

if i upgrade to the 8350 will i see alot better performance or is it not worth it?
medium , in gaming with medium end gpu-some better lowest frame rate bt highest will be all most same, with high end gpu - yes, in video editing - lot better, web media cinema - waste of money and extra electricity.
With any ASUS motherboard that provides TurboV technology the system can overclock your CPU for you… My system has boosted this CPU by 12% all around and it is very stable… I may be overly cautious by saying this but I would never buy an AMD board that doesn't have built in CPU overclocking… This processor stays relatively cool unless using it on 32bit operating systems…
how do i overclock my cpu?
Firs go to the bios
1. disable amd c1e support
2. disable amd c6.3
3.disable virtualazation
4. disable cool and quiet
5. disable apm master
6. ht link freq. set to x13 2600mhz
7. multiplier x22,5
8.
wow that's a lot more than i thought…. i thought using amd overdrive would work?
yes it works to but that is not the same metod like this.. amd drive gives you boost its not stable cpu ratio it will jumpung from 3,3ghz to like 4,0ghz
Hey guys, I have a question. I heard that the FX-series processors needed a temperature offset to be added. For my FX-6100, I figured out that it is 12C since it throttles(lowers its clock) above 58C where it should have been 70C(known max temp for FX-6100). So, do you guys use it while reading temps? And is the offset of 12C the same for all FX-processors like FX-8350, etc ? PLease answer everyone :)
saying it is always off by 12c is incorrect. The amd cpu's do not have any temperature sensor on them, they guess the temperature through cpu usage. So it can be off by far more then 12c but generally at higher temperatures it is normally really close. When your cpu is reading like lets say 9c it can be off upwards to 30c.
Actually you are right. No offset is required. I got news from other websites that the max temperature for FX processors is 61.1C, though AMD Overdrive reports the max temp for my FX-6100 as 70C which I guess is correct for it. Darkberry, can you please see what temperature AMD Overdrive (version - 4.3.1.0690) reports for your FX-8350.Remember,Thermal Margin indicates how far the current operating temperature is below the maximum operating temperature of the processor. So,Thermal Margin = Max temp - Core temp (CPU Temperature displayed in HW monitor, etc)
Well currently my cpu reads at 21c and amd overdrive says I have an overhead of 49c. From everywhere I read 60 is the cut off limit so when I do overclocking I generally try to keep it under 60.
Hmm, so, it seems like AMD Overdrive also reports a max temp of 70C for FX-Piledriver CPUs like FX-8350. So, I guess it's better and safe to consider 61.1C as the max temp for all FX CPUs though I heard that for FX-6100, it was 70C.
Alright so I was running some text with the fx 6100 and when you start to get above 60c the cpu will start down clocking a few cores so I am going to say generally you want to stay under 60c for optimal performance.
Do not run this cpu on windows 32bit. I had 32 bit and this cpu would slow down in performance and I would have to restart this computer every 3 to 4 hours. Now I can have this PC on as long as I want. Now that I have 64 bit windows.
ive got her up to 4.2 but after i reach 4.3+ i start getting blue screens and boot failures, anyone gotten higher than 4.2 without issues?
you must to set up voltage to up 0.150 v
Overclocked very well @ 4.1ghz with a solid stable 45C using Coolermaster Hyper evo 212 pleased with this :D
Good job
can i max out battlefield 4 with this processor and GTX 660 and 10gb ram at 1080p? or should i overclock?
you can run bf4 in ultra but you'll always get better fps with overclocking your cpu&gpu!!
i overclocked to 3.8ghz…… is that enough?
yeah around 3.8-3.9ghz will do enough :)
I am happy with this CPU. It is lightning fast and ideal for overclocking. My motherboard automatically overclocks it to 3600-3650 MHz turbo clock smoothly.
happy for you bro! i overclocked to 4,2ghz and its working with no problems till now..
Is it better to take this processor with GeForce GTX 660 2GB, or to take Intel i5 - 3570?
if you not on low budget then take i5 becouse is best gaming cpu :) but if you low on budget then spend some little more and get an fx 6300 for the price is super cpu
thanks
no problem bro! anytime
