The Ryzen R5 1500X is a high-end CPU based on AMD's 14nm, Zen microarchitecture. It offers 4 physical cores (8 logical), initially clocked at 3.5GHz, which may go up to 3.7GHz using Turbo Boost.


It has an unlocked multiplier therefore it can be overclocked using traditional methods.


It has 16MB of L3 Cache. Level 3 cache is a static memory bank of a processor and it is used to feed it instructions. This processor also supports DDR4 based RAMs with maximum memory support of 64GB.


It has a maximum Thermal Power Design of 65W. It is on par with competitor processors.


Among its many features, Simultaneous Multithreading, Cool n Quiet, CoolCore Technology, Extended Frequency Range (XFX), Pure Power and Precision Boost are enabled.


It doesn't feature an integrated GPU.


This CPU is likely to offer excellent computational performance and will not be the bottleneck in any modern gaming PC.

This or i5-7400 for mostly only gaming. CS:GO is a heavily cpu based game I've heard that depends on clock speed. I'm going to be playing CS:GO on 1600x900 res.

i'd say get the intel one - you will be good with it for the next 4 years (I would guess only the GPU would have to be upgraded soon)

I would say whichever is cheaper - I don't think that any major difference will be noticeable in the long run - maybe the Ryzen is better, but that won't be noticeable in the next 1 year + (and by better, I don't mean gaming-wise)

Its 1500X BTW and impretty sure it costs $189 USD. Also its 4 cores and 8 threads with stock cpu speed pf 3.5 and turbo of 3.7 GHz, I'm sure.
