I've had this cpu in another mb, an MSI K9A2CF V2, for maybe 2 years, oc'ed at 4.0ghz. I upgraded the mb to an MSI 990FXA-GD65V2 about 3 months ago. Couldn't get the pc to boot with oc past 3.9, but have experienced a lot of crashes and now, recently, bsod's. Yesterday I lowered the oc to 3.8 and ran Prime95 for 10 hours without a hiccup. Max temp 52C with my Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus.

I've had this CPU for awhile now and I feel like it's becoming dated for me…
Should I hold off on upgrading? Or is this thing still got some kick left in it?

Should this processor work well with my GPU? I want to refresh my PC for some period so I am thinking of upgrading the CPU. Right now, it is what falls below in game requirements!

It should be working perfectly. As You can see, I use it with HD 6790 *2 and no complaints. Phenom II x4 955BE is great cpu according his price. But If You want some more improvements, then may I suggest FX 6300 and 970 mobo: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970%20Pro3%20R2.0/?cat=Specifications .
