Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz is a performance CPU based on the 22nm, Haswell architecture.
It offers 4 Physical Cores (4 Logical), initially clocked at 3.5GHz, which may go up to 3.9GHz and 6MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Boost and Virtualization are activated and the processor has multiplier unlocked.
The processor integrates powerful Graphics called Intel HD Graphics 4600, with 20 Execution Units, initially clocked at 350MHz and that go up to 1200MHz, in Turbo Mode which share the L2 Cache and system RAM with the processor.
Both the processor and integrated graphics have a rated board TDP of 88W.
Compared to Core i5-4670K there's an overall 3% performance boost. Its performance is exceptionally good and enough for even the most demanding applications.

Intel Core i5-4690K, this CPU cheaper than Intel Core i5-4670K. XD
Cause 4670k is EOL and not produced anymore :P
Is this CPU similar to the Haswell architecture? It uses the same slot so….
I's the same as Haswell only other TiM between IHS and Die
i already have this cpu so if i got a gtx 980 would there be a bottleneck
Nope, it won't bottleneck. It should be able to handle any GPU for the next years to come.
i have 4690k and gtx 980 and its work perfectly. the gpu is perfect for gtx 980.
thanks for the reply
I am planning to switch from AMD to Intel. Currently, this one looks nice upgrade for me with 41% better rating. How this would work with my Gtx 670? Currently im not satisfied with the gaming experiences and my guess is i need a better cpu
This CPU should work nicely with a GTX 670 especially if you overclock the CPU.
Dont worry about the 4690k. Is the best i5 for gaming.
With your GeForce GTX 670 ? it won't cause any problem even if you want to match it with GeForce GTX 980. :D
Will an FX-6300 OC'd to 4GHz come even close to this?
No. Clock speed is not always what a comparison should be based on. This CPU will be much better than the 6300 if overclocked.
So it's performance will be nowhere near the 4690k's?
The FX-6300 isn't a bad chip, but the i5 will give you better performance. You should look into forums and other sources to compare benchmarks and what not. I guess it depends on your budget. The 6300 isn't too far away from the i5. Just do some research and look into it.
Lice, but with AMD FX-8350 (with a little OC, maybe 10 %) it will same, … ^_^
This with a GTX 660? Does that sound like a good combo? Or should I snag a better GFX card?
It is a good combination but keep in mind that this cpu will not bottleneck high end gpus. So if you have the money and have the will to spend it I would recommend a high end gpu.
Is not 100% true. I got the gtx 980 with this gpu, and he do a grate joob. Keep in mind the i5 4690k have the same performance in gaming of any i7 procesor on the market.
What GPU would you recommend? I'm open to suggestions : P I'm going to be making a PC within the next two months.
I can not be very objective since I prefer AMD but with this cpu I would recommend:
AMD: R9 280
Nvidia: GTX 760
It all depends on your budget and the company you prefer. These are my 2 picks for a good budget with that cpu. You could go a bit lower if you want like the R7 260x or the GTX 750ti.
That thing is awesome
guys should i go with this cpu or the non-k one?i found a non-k one with a bundle with 2 games and i dont know the difference.
for me, non-K high-end cpus are waste of money,
K versions are overclockable, so if you have appropriate motherboard, you can sueeze much more performance from it (4.532GHz is my i7-3770K stable freq.)
This version has overclocking potential making it a great choice. But remember to use it with an unlocked motherboard too ;)
the asus z87-k is a good mobo?
Z87 or Z97 is what you should look for when overclocking, ASUS have great VRM, so why not.
I'd go for ASUS Z97M-PLUS maybe, it's just microATX and powerful :)
many thanks man. +1 for you
is 4 cores enough for next gen or upcoming games ? Should I get this , I think my fx is not performing well, and now no games use more than 4 cores so what should I do ?
Your 8350 is perfectly fine, i'd stick with the 8350 if you can, else, this is a great choice to start with if you go for intel
From AMD FX-8350 to Intel Core i5-4690K isn't a real upgarde, go for Intel Core i7-4770K. ^_^
AMD sucks for gaming, i owned fx-6200 before, and would never go back. the difference is like a night and day. Check the single thread benchmark from passmark. AMD CPUs are far behind
The rig I'm showing will be my future PC. Should I stick with my i5-4670k or this?
There is like 0 difference, so get whatever you think is better
There's one thing that sets this apart from the 4670k, the TIM. allows for overclocking
(if you're buying a k series processor why wouldn't overclock?) and about a 10-20c temp drop from the 4670k
10¤C, Not 20, You will only get a so big leap if you do delidding (I have done it on my i7 4770K)
