Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz is a performance CPU based on the 22nm, Haswell architecture.


It offers 4 Physical Cores (4 Logical), initially clocked at 3.5GHz, which may go up to 3.9GHz and 6MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Boost and Virtualization are activated and the processor has multiplier unlocked.


The processor integrates powerful Graphics called Intel HD Graphics 4600, with 20 Execution Units, initially clocked at 350MHz and that go up to 1200MHz, in Turbo Mode which share the L2 Cache and system RAM with the processor.
Both the processor and integrated graphics have a rated board TDP of 88W.


Compared to Core i5-4670K there's an overall 3% performance boost. Its performance is exceptionally good and enough for even the most demanding applications.

I think this thing is already powerful enough for pretty much everything, getting 4790k is a kind of waste I think. Unless you do heavy video editing.

basically what untitled says for normal usage and gaming a i5 is great the only thing that a i7 may be useful for besides bragging is video edditing and recording gameplay footage

hmmm well in games I get better fps and a lot less fps dips but in terms of rendering and video editing that uses all 8 cores I think the 8350 was a tad bit faster. Live streaming the 8350 might win on that one as I took less of a performance hit but with games like dayz and arma 3 I was still able to maintain above 30+ fps while streaming where as the 8350 would drop down to the low 20's.

multitasking depends what kind if your video editing most likely the fc 8350 will beat this but if your doing single core applications or gaming in general in games that dont have mantle then this is better if it has mantle then amd lol!

It is a very nice cpu this one. Oc'ed mine to 4.0ghz and run my 2 970's very good. 1 gtx 970 is great for gaming high to ultra at 1920x1080.

This is a beast. I upgraded from fx-6200, and the difference in games is huge. Not sure is it worth to upgrade from fx-8350 tho…maybe. But if you do lots of multitasking, the current one you have is good

I just bought the 4690k my 8350 runs games ok but I get massive dips a lot into the 20's in a lot of open world games, I would have got the 4790k because I stream a lot but hell I just picked this up for $160 at newegg.

well liquid (water) dissipates heat faster and better than air (usually). if you know what youre doing then make a custom loop, if not then get an AIO

You should be able to hit 4.5GHz no problem with the evo. you'll probably experience heat issues with stress testing programs but that's normal. max i would go with on that cooler is around 4.3GHz, to kinda stay in the safe zone :P

It will cause a little bottlecking, you need to oc your CPU, and keep sure you have a good cooler, than I'm sure you will be good.

With a single GeForce GTX 970 you can play any games you want, includes Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed Unity, and maybe you can play The Division too. :|
