you should push it harder to at least 4.2, unless you're on the stock cooler. If that is the case, then that's awesome.

i5-4690K @4800/4300 (1.33/1.19V) + Cogage Arrow with 2x Silverstone FHP141 + 3x Akasa Apache (case) is an epic win.

Doesn't even get 65ºC while playing with all fans at min (-500RPM all of them), literally inaudible

Depends on what AIO, I have a Kraken X61+Kraken G10 for my R9 290X, performance and silence are awesome. For a processor you can go for a Silver Arrow SB-E, Phanteks PH-TC14PE, Noctua NH-D15 or Cryorig R1 as bulletproof and silent solutions

And the most important part: the silicon lottery. There aren't two equal processors on Earth, you can be lucky and push it more with less voltage, or be unlucky and cannot pass 4.2GHz at 1.35V. I think my sample is quite good

As personal experience, I had a Raijintek Triton for my CPU that ended broken by overtighten. It lasted three months and leaked over my previous 280X. She survived, but the Triton ended up in the trash can :(

Am planning to build a new machine. Was wondering if I should buy this CPU or the i7-4770K. I don't plan to make any videos or do streaming but just gaming. It'll also be the first intel machine I'll own so any advice is appreciated.

Putting it on a " ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 2-R" mobo.

I also plan to run Star Citizen with this processor for 600p gaming. with a GTX 970

im not very demanding as a gamer. I used to play games on a laptop which barely ran 30 fps. I've lived a struggling life just to try out games like Euro truck simulator. Now the current build I have just needs to run star citizen at stable frames which may not go to my case. Game has a lot going on for it.

As for 600p, I meant to say 900p. I'm most comfortable with it.

Playing on high settings? Possibly, yes. Ultra? No.

By the way, if you get a better Mainboard (like ASUS Z97 Pro Gamer or GigaByte G1.Sniper) you'll be able to OC that i5 in the future (which might be neccessary).

r9 380 is more than enough for 1080p i went for the 960 though. I would recommend a z97 motherboard though for overclocking purposes if not get a non "k" processor, there is'nt much of a difference and it will save you money.

I wouldn't choose a K series if you won't chose a Z mobo and won't oc it. I have a K series (this one) and a Z mobo, but can't oc yet, don't have an aftermarket cooler yet.

MSI H81 lacks VRM in amount and cooling, it's better a Z97 model with good VRM for overclocking (that's what Z97 and K series are meant for). Otherwise you can pick up a non-K. And something higher than a R9 380 would be more future-proof
