How well can the GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Getting one of these GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition graphics cards allows the gamer to run indie system requirements and some less demanding AAA titles. In today’s PC hardware terms these are considered middle range for gaming performance. GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition is capable of DirectX 11 gaming requirements.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2019. This graphics hardware can run 267 of the 1000 most demanding PC games played today.

The 1080p FPS on Ultra for the GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition shows us that Cyberpunk 2077 is predicted to get a weak result of 0 FPS, and then we are seeing Need For Speed Heat returning a weak 17 FPS while another game on our list is the Red Dead Redemption 2 which is getting 17 frames per second at Ultra 1080p.

We move on to 1440p, and tested Need For Speed Heat which delivered weak FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 33 FPS, Medium: 26 FPS, High: 18 FPS and Ultra: 13 FPS. Next we have Red Dead Redemption 2 running on GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition which gets L: 33FPS, M: 26FPS, H: 18FPS, U: 13FPS. And for performance contrast the popular Cyberpunk 2077 is predicted to get L: 0FPS, M: 0FPS, H: 0FPS, U: 0FPS at 1440p. In summary we feel the GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition running at 1440p is not going to be able to maintain a playable game at this resolution.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 670 MSI OC Edition? A good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 109% better and can meet 897 of their recommended requirements. Alternatively if you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 56% better and can run 685 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games.

yeah, it will be a beast, maybe battlefield 4 intense multiplayer will need some lower settings, but for Crysis 3, you can run it on high-max at your res, and Far Cry 3 is easy max out, but keep AA off since you don't need it and it takes of WAAY too much FPS. BF4 reqs aren't released yet though so I can only predict, but for the other games, you can expect 40+ FPS on high-ultra at 1920x1080

The HD7950 should be quite a lot cheaper, if it's not, then definately this one. It's completely out of the 7950's league, as that's the competitor to the 660ti. Either this one is very cheap or the 7950 is very expensive… You should be able to get a HD7970 non GHz at about the same price.

I have this exact same card and leave the settings on its factory default. I haven't had any overheating problems, but maybe not yet. I can't tell if it's overheating though, since I don't use MSI Afterburner. But so far, there hasn't been any BSOD or crashes. I only played on Guild Wars 2 on max settings so far, so I couldn't tell if it may/may not overheat on games that are even more demanding.
