How well can the GeForce GTX 770 run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The GeForce GTX 770 GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games. DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce GTX 770 is at running the more popular games of 2019. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 304.

A GeForce GTX 770 card at 1080p is predicted to see a weak frame rate when running Microsoft Flight Simulator on Ultra - 1 FPS. Lets look at the performance its getting on eFootball PES 2020 which is 50 FPS. To add a bit more variety lets see how the popular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare performs on this hardware, which gets a weak 18 FPS.

One of the growing popular screen resolutions for PC gaming is the wider 1440p. So we wanted to see how well the GeForce GTX 770 performed at 1440p by taking a look at some of the current popular games. First we looked at Microsoft Flight Simulator and predict it will deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 1 FPS, Medium: 1 FPS, High: 1 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. We then checked the performance on eFootball PES 2020 to see if that runs well. It was playable with a 38 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 770 is going to struggle to keep a solid FPS, but a modern game could have a few options tweaked to get it playable at this res but on low graphics settings.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 770 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 770 in your PC? This GeForce GTX 770 card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 770? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which is 94% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 896 games from the most demanding games today. Alternatively a good choice when looking to upgrade the GeForce GTX 770 would be the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB which meets 665 of the 1000 top game’s recommended system requirements and has 43% better performance.

I want to get a gtx 770 but I have no 8pin PCIe power connectors. I do have two 6pins plus two 6 to 8pin converters though.
Are there any down sides to using those type of convertors? I do not plan to overclock.

What is your PSU? if it doesn't have the connectors, it's probably because it can't handle that much load. I'd check if it is a quality PSU.

Upgrading from a Nvidia 660, is this a good upgrade for the cost, or is the Nvidia 760 a better option? And will a FX-4130 bottleneck either of the GPU's? Or would it be better to get the SLI 660? My PSU can handle the SLI.

The 660 sli will be massively better, but it will be bottlenecked by your cpu. upgrade to an 8320 or similar and the bottleneck wont be there.

What's your budget for a new PSU? your gtx 770 requires 2x8 pin PCI E connectors, and I'd say around 700-800w PSU, If you want to get the highest quality, I'd get a Seasonic platinum 760w, or the Corsair AX760 full modular PSU. budget friendly option would be a TX 750w, this has 4x (6+2) PCI E connectors and it will provide sufficient power.

I'll probably go for the seasonic platinum, thanks for the advice.
I'm still gonna wait until they lower the gtx 770's price, with the release of the new amd cards.

I wouldn't crossfire, the 6100 will bottleneck that, but then again, you won't see a significant difference from a 7950 to a gtx 770, I say stick with your rig as it is now, it is more than sufficient @1080p, you can run all the latest games.

I'd recommend upgrading your CPU before getting a graphics card like this.
I don't think your power supply will manage but it's possible, I personally wouldn't risk it
