How well can the GeForce GTX 780 run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the GeForce GTX 780 is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p. DirectX 11 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

This PC hardware performance game review for the GeForce GTX 780 graphics card, when running 2019 more popular games, lets us see what type of FPS this card gets when playing at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions and ultra settings. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 365.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 780 performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title eFootball PES 2020 and saw it deliver reasonable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 156 FPS, Medium: 123 FPS, High: 83 FPS and Ultra: 59 FPS. We proceeded to look at Borderlands 3 to see how that compared and saw that it returned a playable 35 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

With PC gamers looking for larger screen sizes like 1440p we tested the GeForce GTX 780 by playing eFootball PES 2020 which yielded a reasonable performance. Its FPS results for the graphics settings are as follows - L: 119FPS, M: 94FPS, H: 63FPS, U: 45FPS. Another popular game we tested with this card was Borderlands 3 and that was playable. This graphics card delivered 27 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Another popular title was Cyberpunk 2077 which is predicted to get weak results with a 12FPS on Ultra 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 780 is a reasonable choice at this screen size. You can always tweak modern game graphics settings to help you get a better High graphics setting experience at 1440p.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 780 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 780 in your PC? This GeForce GTX 780 card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 780? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which is 65% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 898 games from the most demanding games today. An alternative great upgrade graphics card would be a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, which has 21% better performance and can run 671 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today.

GeForce GTX 780 Game Requirement Analysis

GeForce GTX 780 is a high-end graphics-card based on the 28nm, Kepler architecture.
It's based on the Kepler GK110 Core (same used on Titan) but with 12 SMX activated and therefore offers 2304 Shader Processing Units, 192 TMUs and 48 ROPs on a 384-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. While the central unit runs at 863MHz and goes up to 902MHz in Turbo, the memory clock operates at 1502MHz. It consumes up to 250W.
Benchmarks indicate that its performance is up to 30% better than previous GeForce GTX 680 and thus allows even the most demanding games to be playable at the highest settings, at 1080p. With proper overclocking and cooling, it can surpass GeForce GTX Titan.

Would it be worth paying the extra £££ for the Ti edition or is it wiser just to get the standard?
I mean, on average, the Ti is £200 more than this one. Is the price difference really worth it?

Can somebody add the GeForce GTX 780 ZOTAC AMP! Edition to the list? It's quite a new card. I label my GPU on Game-Debate as a GTX 780 GHz Edition because of the Factory Overclock set to 1006 MHz but would like the Zotac added to the list of variants.
And I Overclock that bad boy with a max boost clock attained at 1.215 GHz.

yeah buy the gtx 780 over the 780 ti, check out the r9 290 (non-x), that's even cheaper, and it's aronud the gtx 780 levels. although if you do consider the r9 290, you should wait for the aftermarket cooler.

if you do get the r9 290, either
1-wait for the aftermarket coolers
2-add a arctic accelero cooler
3-watercool the graphics card

I'm debating on this card, I have a single EVGA GTX 680 SC and this is my first year gaming on the PC. Is it worth the upgrade to a 780 or should I just get a second 680?

the gtx 680 is a powerful card, you don't need an upgrade at all, unless you're getting a 1440/1600p monitor, aren't you happy with how much performance you're getting? If you must upgrade though, the second gtx 680 is a better choice. Think about it. GTX 680 SLI is a bit faster than a gtx 690, the gtx 780 is a bit slower than the gtx titan, and the GTX titan is a bit slower than a gtx 690, the 680 SLI is the best choice.

BTW badass graphics card, the card is also a blower cooler (I think), so you don't really have to worry about the second card getting NOISY and loud, the noise and cooling will be around the same. also what power supply do you have? never mind, just saw you have a hx1050, badass PSU, SLI will be no problem, TBH you could probably put a third gtx 680 (not that you need to).
