How well can the GeForce GTX 780 run games
13 Dec 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the GeForce GTX 780 is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p. DirectX 11 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

This PC hardware performance game review for the GeForce GTX 780 graphics card, when running 2019 more popular games, lets us see what type of FPS this card gets when playing at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions and ultra settings. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 347.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 780 performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Detroit: Become Human and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 18 FPS, Medium: 15 FPS, High: 10 FPS and Ultra: 7 FPS. We proceeded to look at Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order to see how that compared and saw that it returned a weak 16 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

With PC gamers looking for larger screen sizes like 1440p we tested the GeForce GTX 780 by playing Detroit: Become Human which yielded a weak performance. Its FPS results for the graphics settings are as follows - L: 14FPS, M: 11FPS, H: 7FPS, U: 5FPS. Another popular game we tested with this card was Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order and that was weak. This graphics card delivered 12 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Another popular title was Resident Evil 3 Remake which is predicted to get playable results with a 31FPS on Ultra 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 780 is in need of some graphics adjustments to get some stability, which means its not an ideal gaming resolution for this GPU.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 780 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 780 in your PC? This GeForce GTX 780 card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 780? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which is 65% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 892 games from the most demanding games today. An alternative great upgrade graphics card would be a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, which has 29% better performance and can run 762 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today.

GeForce GTX 780 Game Requirement Analysis

GeForce GTX 780 is a high-end graphics-card based on the 28nm, Kepler architecture.
It's based on the Kepler GK110 Core (same used on Titan) but with 12 SMX activated and therefore offers 2304 Shader Processing Units, 192 TMUs and 48 ROPs on a 384-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. While the central unit runs at 863MHz and goes up to 902MHz in Turbo, the memory clock operates at 1502MHz. It consumes up to 250W.
Benchmarks indicate that its performance is up to 30% better than previous GeForce GTX 680 and thus allows even the most demanding games to be playable at the highest settings, at 1080p. With proper overclocking and cooling, it can surpass GeForce GTX Titan.

I'm not trying to be hideous, but I got this card for Watch Dogs, and it's just not cutting it. I was planning to buy a 144 hz monitor, but this game NEVER gets to 60 fps. It's really sad. Do you guys think I need to setup a 780 SLI on 1080p or is WD just that horribly optimized?. Thanks in advance. PS: I really like eye-candy playing :)

this card is massive overkill for ur resolution. a single 660 is enough if u really want more performance than get another 660. u will be fine even with 1080p for at least 2 years. then upgrade to gtx 8xx or 9xx series cause 6xx to 7xx upgrade is worthless!!

You can fit some big card in a mini itx case nowadays, like the 780 ti for example.
