How well can the GeForce GTX 660 Ti run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Getting one of these GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics cards allows the gamer to run indie system requirements and some less demanding AAA titles. In today’s PC hardware terms these are considered middle range for gaming performance. DirectX 11 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 660 Ti in your PC? We think this GeForce GTX 660 Ti has around 6-12 months until an upgrade should be considered.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 660 Ti? A good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 152% better and can meet 898 of their recommended requirements. Alternatively upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB which is 85% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 671 games from the most demanding games today.

GeForce GTX 660 Ti Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 660 Ti is a Performance Graphics Card based on the Kepler Architecture.

Architecture
The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs.
Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU.
GPU
It equips a GPU GK104-300-KD-A2 which has 7 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 1344 Shader Processing Units, 112 TMUs and 24 ROPs. The Central Unit is initially clocked at 915MHz and goes up to 980MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 192-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1502MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 150W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with two available 6-pin connectors.

Performance
At 1920x1080, the best suited resolution for GeForce GTX 660 Ti, benchmarks indicate its performance is a little over the older GeForce GTX 580.

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 660 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a Strong Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.

GTX 660 Ti is still a great card, just so happens to have a rather narrow bus interface, and the higher the pixels that need rendering (resolution) the worse this one performs

I am going for a pc that will last some years, so which brand would be better for in the future AMD or Nvidia? Also which one can be better overclocked the 7950 or the gtx 670? and how long will a rig like this last ( with i7 3770)?
Sorry for the many questions : /

Both brands are future proof. They need to or else one will monopolize, :P
They both offer great OC-ability. Personally I would get a tweaked GTX 670 and raise it even more.
You don't need a 3770K. You can get a 3570K and OC it to 4GHz easily.
