Overview
GeForce 9600 GT 1GB is a Performance Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Tesla Architecture.
Architecture
Tesla was NVIDIA's First Unified Shader Architecture.
GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed G94-300-A1 which has 4 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 64 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 600MHz.
Memory
The GPU accesses a 512MB frame buffer of GDDR3, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.
Features
DirectX 10.0 Support (10.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology, Dual-stream Hardware Acceleration, PhysX, CUDA, HybridPower and other technologies.
Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan.
Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 90W, it requires at least a 400W PSU and it requires at least one available 6-pin connector.
Performance
Gaming benchmarks put its performance on average with a more recent Radeon HD 5670.

Guys i am Upgrading a P4 rig. I will put a E6320 for overclock with Cooler Master TX3 Evo. The mobo will be 4core1600twins-p35 and the ram would be 4GB. Is it a good idea to put 2 of this 9600GT 1GB cards on Sli?
Well… I'd go for an C2Q for SLI, just sayin'
Well i went for the Xeon E5450 and GTX 295. I changed my specs after that.
Its a very good combo!!! Old High-End platforms can still do pretty mutch everything !! Talking with self experience :D
The main problem was the lack of DX11 and the heat output. Everything else was good.
Why was it lowered to 4? Some of it still isn't even known, I have this card and can run almost all of modern games on low-med. I can even run battlefield 4 low-med 30+ frames.
It was lowered due to the newest additions from the Nvidia 900 series. Mine dropped a rank too. It happens. :)
It's a shame that they compare it to newer cards, not the actual performance. It's a great card, had it for awhile and ran about every game I own.
my bro got : core 2 duo 2.66 ghz ( idk the model ) 2 gb ram and a quadro fx 3450 and a 375 watts psu so can he run this card for a little gaming and for work ?
can any one tell me a good graphics card to replace this one
What is your budget? I would recommend 7850 or GTX 650Ti Boost. Anything faster would be bottlenecked by your CPU. Though your CPU will be a bottleneck for these cards in most games.
Below 1,000 dollars
If you really have 1000 dollars I would recommend whole new PC. cheaper H67 chipset motherboard(like this one,CPU i5-3350P( this one and 7850/7870. branded Power Supply 600W, and some cheaper case. Buying 1000 dollars graphics card would be a mistake, 1000 dollars graphics card would be grossly bottlenecked by your CPU.
I think you could get the 7870 XT if you could find one, its pretty close to a 7950 in terms of performance for a lower price.
Cant i just add these over time to my pc
I checked on newegg and the Geforce GTX 650 Ti BOOST is cheaper than the 7870 XT
i think you might be joking about upgrading your gpu and watching for bellow 1000 dollars :))) in 1000 dollars you will buy a new gaming system… or maybe you wanted to wright 100?
My graphic is this. Can someone tell me when to buy a new pc.
My pc has:
CPU: Core 2 duo e8200 2.66GHZ
GPU: Nvidi GeForce 9600GT 1GB
Ram: 2GB
HDD:300 ?
and tell me what to upgrade
You should buy a new PC as soon as you can, as for the upgrade you should upgrade your GFX and RAM. I would advise +2GB RAM,HD 7750, and OC your CPU to 3.2GHz to avoid bottlenecks.
Could someone please tell me if I should trade my card for this one???? ASAP
No you shouldn't!
Thanks a lot
no way bro dont do it.never
Would this card perform better in games than mine???
At stock, they're comparable performance-wise. Getting an older GPU isn't really an upgrade, considering 9600GT supports up to DX10 and heats more.
Hey is it woth trading my ps3 for this rig? Please reply fast!
Cpu- E7500 core2 duo
HDD-250 gigas
Ram- 4GB ddr2
Gpu-GF9600 1gb
Windons 7
I Wouldnt do that.
Don't do it.
thnx
I always thought that my GPU is better than this but it's 40% less power !!! however I Currently have this card on my older PC so i'm not jealous :&
This card is wonderful
