How well can the Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB run games
12 Jan 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

A true powerhouse, the Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB will run even the most demanding game system requirements released today. All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.

Game performance for the Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB where we look at the bigger games played in 2020. Looking closely at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 955.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order and saw it deliver reasonable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 135 FPS, Medium: 106 FPS, High: 71 FPS and Ultra: 51 FPS. We proceeded to look at Microsoft Flight Simulator to see how that compared and predict that it will return a reasonable 51 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

We move on to 1440p, and tested Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order which delivered playable FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 103 FPS, Medium: 81 FPS, High: 54 FPS and Ultra: 39 FPS. Next we have Microsoft Flight Simulator running on Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB which is predicted to get L: 103FPS, M: 81FPS, H: 54FPS, U: 39FPS. And for performance contrast the popular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare gets L: 144FPS, M: 113FPS, H: 76FPS, U: 55FPS at 1440p. In summary we feel the Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB running at 1440p is one of the better graphics cards for gaming at this screen resolution. We will see 1440p Ultra and High settings across almost all current games.

How many years will the Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for 2 to 3 years of meeting top end game system requirements

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB? A great upgrade graphics card would be a 20 Series GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8GB, which has 25% better performance and can run 994 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today.

Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB is an mid-tier gaming Graphics Card based on the first (1.0) Revision of the RDNA Architecture.

Architecture
The Navi 10 XL GPU offers support for GDDR6 Memory, DirectX 12.0, Vulkan 1.0, and OpenGL 4.5.

GPU
This variant of the Navi 10 XL GPU features 36 Compute Units activated, offering 2304 Shader Processing Units, 144 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The GPU features a 1375 MHz base clock speed and up to 1560 MHz with boost clock, making it an estimated 20% slower than a Radeon RX 5700 8GB. This puts its predicted performance at roughly 20% faster than a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.

Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with 6GB high-speed GDDR6 and accesses the Frame Buffer through a 192-bit memory interface, providing total memory bandwidth of 288 GB/s.

Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 6GB. Under most circumstances, this only proves useful in certain 3D Games whose Settings Require Large Amounts of Memory.
However, the GPU itself is aimed for 1080p Gaming. In some limited scenarios at 1440p resolution, 6GB video memory might be a bottleneck and Performance could be better were the Frame Buffer larger, however this would only be an issue in the most demanding games.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 150W, it requires at least a 550W PSU with one available 8+6-pin connector.

Performance
AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB competes with GeForce GTX 1660 Ti which is available for $329.

System Suggestions
AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2650 x 1480 but is ideally suited for 1920 x 1080. For the most demanding AAA games it should be ideally suited to 1080p. We recommend a mid-tier CPU and at least 16GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.
