How well can the Radeon HD 6790 run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

This Radeon HD 6790 graphics card is considered budget with poor modern game performance when playing anything more demanding than indie game requirements. DirectX 11 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

How many years will the Radeon HD 6790 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon HD 6790 in your PC? You should definitely consider replacing this Radeon HD 6790 graphics card, if it is still in your gaming PC.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon HD 6790? A great upgrade graphics card would be a 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, which has 452% better performance and can run 900 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today. Alternatively we would suggest getting a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, as it can run 684 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today with 306% increased graphics performance.

8GB+ is beneficial for games, especially with next gen PC games coming out this year.

Also could my lack of RAM be making a bottleneck, causing games to slow down after playing for a bit?

In some cases yeah. I have experienced serious slow down when I played DayZ (Arma II mod) with 2GB of RAM (which was OK back then when DayZ was 1st released, just like 4GB now). After upgrading to 4GB, the FPS didn't increase but the load time was significantly reduced, and the stuttering was less noticeable as well.
