How well can the Radeon HD 6990 run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The Radeon HD 6990 GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games. Radeon HD 6990 is capable of DirectX 11 gaming requirements.

Lets look at the Radeon HD 6990 game performance guide for some of the biggest games played in 2019. In particular we will see how well this graphics card runs on Ultra settings on 1080p resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. This card runs recommended graphics requirements of 305 games from the top 1000 most demanding games being played today.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We are seeing Halo: Reach getting 111 FPS with the Radeon HD 6990, Red Dead Redemption 2 getting 29 FPS and Cyberpunk 2077 predicted to get 0 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the Radeon HD 6990 at 1440p with Halo: Reach, which got a strong set of FPS results. These were, Low: 222 FPS, Medium: 175 FPS, High: 118 FPS and Ultra: 84 FPS. We then checked out Red Dead Redemption 2 which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 57FPS, M: 45FPS, H: 30FPS, U: 22FPS. And another popular game was Cyberpunk 2077 with predictions of L: 0FPS, M: 0FPS, H: 0FPS, U: 0FPS at 1440p. 1440p gaming on the Radeon HD 6990 is a reasonable performance fit for this resolution. Some of the more resource intensive games may well need a few graphical tweak to get the most out of the graphics card at this increased resolution.

How many years will the Radeon HD 6990 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon HD 6990 in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon HD 6990? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which is 91% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 896 games from the most demanding games today. Alternatively we would suggest getting a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, as it can run 665 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today with 41% increased graphics performance.

Radeon HD 6990 Game Requirement Analysis

Radeon HD 6990 is a dual-graphics solution of two Radeon HD 6970.
As most dual-graphics solutions, it features limitations SLI doesn't such as lower clock frequencies and excessive heat production.
Radeon HD 6990 is one of today's most powerful graphics solutions but as of 2011, it was already behind NVIDIA'S GeForce GTX 590 and today, even single high-end GPUs such as GTX 680 and Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition deliver better performance without causing micro-stuttering, excessiving heating and with a much lower power consumption.

It's all about the resolution (number of pixels) one card could theoretically run 1000s of monitors if resolution is below the limit.
For the GPU it's whatever if you use 80 monitors or just one as long as reso is same.

Sorry I meant in 1080p across all monitors (1920x1080x30) its probably impossible but I've seen a video where a guy ran a hacked eyefinity setup with like 9 monitors or somthing.

Not sure how many monitor it can support, I think 6.Maybe it's a fake video or he's hacked the firmware or something. When you run multiple monitors for example 3, height resolution will be the same as with one monitor for ex 1080 while width is going to be 1920x3=5760 (because of the 3 monitors).

Yeah its hard to tell if its legit you cant trust YouTube…. Supposedly it is hacked but you could be right I've also seen a military set-up using an eyefinity beta that had a few more monitors but it was using something more like a fire-pro card.
