How well can the GeForce GTX 1650 run games
15 Sep 2020 - Graphics card reviewed

A strong performing piece of hardware, GeForce GTX 1650 can still meet a lot of the game system requirements of modern games. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

How well will the GeForce GTX 1650 run 2020 games? We will take a look at the biggest releases and frames per second analysis on Ultra graphics settings. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 104.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce GTX 1650 can run Assassins Creed: Valhalla at 1080p and predict it will return weak frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 24 FPS, Medium: 21 FPS, High: 18 FPS and Ultra: 12 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Marvel's Avengers returns a playable 37 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Moving screen sizes up to 1440p we researched Assassins Creed: Valhalla on the GeForce GTX 1650 and predict it will get a weak set of frame rates. Here are the low to ultra predictions at 1440p - L: 19FPS, M: 16FPS, H: 14FPS, U: 9FPS. Another popular game to test at 1440p with this card was Marvel's Avengers which seemed playable in performance netting an Ultra FPS of 28 FPS. Finally we then took a look at Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War where its predicted Ultra 1440p Frame rates were weak at 17 FPS. 1440p GeForce GTX 1650 PC gaming is going to need to lower its graphics settings to medium on modern games.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1650 in your PC? We think this GeForce GTX 1650 has around 6-12 months until an upgrade should be considered.

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1650? A good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB. For comparison of the 1000 most demanding games around today this suggested upgrade is 57% better and can meet 830 of their recommended requirements. Alternatively if you want an upgrade suggestion for the GeForce GTX 1650 then a good choice would be R-500 Series Radeon RX 580 8GB as this is better than 766 of the top 1000 most demanding game requirements with 28% better performance as well.

GeForce GTX 1650 Game Requirement Analysis

Overview

The GeForce GTX 1650 is an Nvidia GeForce low-end graphics card which launched in April 2019. The GeForce GTX 1650 is designed to compete against AMD's more affordable gaming cards such as the RX 550 and the RX 560, and replaces the outgoing GTX 1050.This is a daul-slot graphics card which connects to the rest of the system using a PCIe 3.0 x16 interface.

Architecture

The Turing Architecture aims for 30-50% as much performance as the previous-gen Pascal Architecture.

GPU

It equips a GPU Codenamed Turing T107-400, more specifically a TU117-300-A1, which has 14 SM activated and thus 896 Shader Processing Units, 56 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1485 MHz and goes up to 1665 MHz with the Boost Clock.

Memory

The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the memory clock operates at 2000 MHz (8GHz effective).

Power Consumption

With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance

The GeForce GTX 1650 will enable low to mid-level graphics performance on modern AAA 2019 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 50+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card has slightly faster performance than the GTX 1050 Ti.

System Suggestions

The GeForce GTX 1650 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080, so our recommendation would be to use 19200x1080 in order to get the most out of your settings. We recommend a high-end processor such as the i5-8400 and 8GB of RAM for optimal performance.
