How well can the Titan RTX run games
13 Dec 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

A true powerhouse, the Titan RTX will run even the most demanding game system requirements released today. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Here is a quick game performance synopsis for the AAA games played in 2019. In particular we focus on how well the Titan RTX runs at Ultra graphics settings and what frames per second it is getting at 1080p, 1440p and 4K monitor resolutions. When considering how well this graphics card can run the 1000 most demanding games available today it can best 998 of the games’ recommended graphics requirements.

Running at 1080p this card gets a strong frame rate from Red Dead Redemption 2 with 109 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order which returns a strong 84 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Borderlands 3 which we saw getting a strong 109 FPS.

We move on to 1440p, and tested Red Dead Redemption 2 which delivered strong FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 218 FPS, Medium: 172 FPS, High: 116 FPS and Ultra: 83 FPS. Next we have Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order running on Titan RTX which gets L: 168FPS, M: 132FPS, H: 89FPS, U: 64FPS. And for performance contrast the popular Borderlands 3 gets L: 218FPS, M: 172FPS, H: 116FPS, U: 83FPS at 1440p. 1440p Titan RTX PC gaming is a solid performer with higher resolution modern gaming. This graphics card can also bump up to 4K gaming regularly with the latest games still being capable of high or ultra graphics settings at this level.

How many years will the Titan RTX graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Titan RTX in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for 2 to 3 years of meeting top end game system requirements

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Titan RTX? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the Titan RTX.

Titan RTX Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
The Nvidia Titan RTX is the top RTX 20 Series graphics card and considered an Enthusiast graphics card based on the Turing architecture.

Architecture
The Turing architecture represents a process shrink down to 12nm compared to 14nm Pascal. The Turing architecture provides the world's first consumer support for real-time ray-tracing technology, or RTX.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed Turing TU102-400A-A1 which has 4608 Shader Processing Units, 288 TMUs, and 96 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1350MHz and goes up to 1750MHz in Boost mode. It also has 576 Tensor Cores for AI purposes and 72 RT Cores for real-time ray-tracing.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 24GB frame buffer of first-gen GDDR6 memory through a 384-bit memory interface, while the Memory clock operates at 1750MHz, or 14GHz effective.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 280W, it requires at least a 650W PSU with two 8-pin power connectors.

System Suggestions
Nvidia Titan RTX is best suited for resolutions up to and including 3840x2160. We recommend a top-End Processor and at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance.
