How well can the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB run games
31 Oct 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

One of the more powerful mid range graphics cards, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB might struggle sometimes with the more system demanding game requirements. DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Here is a performance review on how capable the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB is at running the more popular games of 2019. Specifically looking at this PC hardware’s ability to get suitable frames per second to play on Ultra game settings and what FPS it might get on 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen res. We look at 1000 of the most demanding games available today and this GPU is better than the recommended graphics requirement of more than 361 games in the list.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Borderlands 3 and saw it deliver playable frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 77 FPS, Medium: 60 FPS, High: 41 FPS and Ultra: 29 FPS. We proceeded to look at Cyberpunk 2077 to see how that compared and predict that it will return a weak 8 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We discovered the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB ran Borderlands 3 to a weak performance level. Results across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 58 FPS, Medium: 46 FPS, High: 31 FPS and Ultra: 22 FPS. Another game researched was Cyberpunk 2077 with predictions of L: 15FPS, M: 12FPS, H: 8FPS, U: 6FPS. And then we checked graphics card performance on Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip, which returned L: 75FPS, M: 59FPS, H: 40FPS, U: 28FPS at 1440p. After a look at the popular games running at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB, this is in need of some graphics adjustments to get some stability, which means its not an ideal gaming resolution for this GPU.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB in your PC? This GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB? Are you looking to upgrade a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB? GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview

The Asus GeForce GTX 1050 Ti ROG Strix Gaming OC 4GB is Asus's flagship version of the 1050 Ti. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. It features a heavily boosted clock, a non stock cooler and an extra DVI slot.

Architecture

The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU

It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1392MHz and goes up to 1506MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory

The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption

With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies on an extra 6-Pin connector for power.

Performance

The GTX 1050 Ti ROG Strix Gaming OC will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 59+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions

This card is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.

Maybe but I would go for at least the GTX 1060 6GB or higher if you can squeeze out the money for it
otherwise if your limited on budget. you'll likely be satisfied with the performance of this GPU.
