How well can the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games. DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Lets look at the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB game performance guide for some of the biggest games played in 2019. In particular we will see how well this graphics card runs on Ultra settings on 1080p resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB can run the recommended graphics system requirements for 334 games today, of the top 1000 most demanding.

First we looked at 1080p resolution for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB performance to explore what sort of benchmarks it would achieve on the popular title Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order and saw it deliver weak frames per second across the following graphics settings - Low: 5 FPS, Medium: 4 FPS, High: 3 FPS and Ultra: 2 FPS. We proceeded to look at Diablo 4 to see how that compared and predict that it will return a weak 2 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We discovered the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB ran Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order to a weak performance level. Results across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 4 FPS, Medium: 3 FPS, High: 2 FPS and Ultra: 2 FPS. Another game researched was Diablo 4 with predictions of L: 4FPS, M: 3FPS, H: 2FPS, U: 2FPS. And then we checked graphics card performance on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which returned L: 38FPS, M: 30FPS, H: 20FPS, U: 14FPS at 1440p. Gaming at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB is going to underperform if you try and run modern games.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB? A great upgrade graphics card would be a 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB, which has 88% better performance and can run 897 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today. Alternatively if you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 41% better and can run 685 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti KFA2 OC 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview

KFA2's 4GB GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC is their slightly overclocked version of Nvidia's lower end graphics card. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. This card features a non stock cooler and an overclocked core speed.

Architecture

The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU

It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1303MHz and goes up to 1417MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory

The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption

With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required despite it's overclocked core speed.

Performance

The GTX 1050 Ti OC by KFA2 will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 58+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be ever so slightly faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions

The KFA2 GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
