How well can the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB run games
31 Oct 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

This graphics card offers upper mid level gaming performance. The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB GPU could struggle if it was to try and run the most demanding games available today, but it meets a lot of game system requirements found in today’s games. DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2019. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 346.

Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB is predicted to run Cyberpunk 2077 with weak performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 1 frames per second. Comparing this to Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip which is getting playable results, where it averages 33 FPS. Another popular game we looked at is Borderlands 3, which is running at 24 frames per second.

People are turning their increasingly more powerful graphics cards to the popular 1440p screen size so we tested the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB to see how it performs on 1440p. First off we have researched Cyberpunk 2077 and predict it will be weak. The frame rates predicted for the game presets were - Low: 1 FPS, Medium: 1 FPS, High: 1 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. We added Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip to our tests and saw it was playable with a 25 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And then tested Borderlands 3 which got 18 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB is not ideal and its more advisable to run modern games at 1080p resolution. But if you really want to play games at 1440p then you will likely have to make some graphical adjustments to improve game FPS stability.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB in your PC? This GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB? A good upgrade choice for this graphics card today would be the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB. GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Asus Dual 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Dual 4GB by Asus is effectively a reference card of Nvidia's lower end graphics card the GTX 1050 Ti. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470. It features a non stock Dual fan cooling system.

Architecture

The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU

It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1290MHz and goes up to 1392MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory

The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption

With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance

The GTX 1050 Ti Dual will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 55+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Dual by ASUS is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.
