How well can the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

One of the more powerful mid range graphics cards, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB might struggle sometimes with the more system demanding game requirements. GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB is capable of DirectX 12 gaming requirements.

How well will the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB run 2019 games? We will take a look at the biggest releases and frames per second analysis on Ultra graphics settings. 312 games can be played by this graphics card of the 1000 most demanding games being played by PC gamers today.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We are seeing FIFA 20 getting 91 FPS with the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, The Outer Worlds getting 24 FPS and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare getting 18 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We discovered the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB ran FIFA 20 to a good performance level. Results across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 157 FPS, Medium: 130 FPS, High: 96 FPS and Ultra: 70 FPS. Another game tested was The Outer Worlds, L: 47FPS, M: 37FPS, H: 25FPS, U: 18FPS. And then we checked graphics card performance on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which returned L: 36FPS, M: 29FPS, H: 19FPS, U: 14FPS at 1440p. Gaming at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB is a perfectly suitable selection of hardware for theis larger screen size. If a game at 1440p struggles a bit or experiences a frame drop then you can tweak settings in game to help get it stable. This might mean lowering it to medium or low in some specific options.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which is 94% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 899 games from the most demanding games today. An alternative great upgrade graphics card would be a RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB, which has 43% better performance and can run 672 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is one of Nvidia's lower end graphics card. It is competing against AMDs more affordable gaming cards, like the newer RX 470.

Architecture

The Pascal Architecture aims for twice as much performance as the Maxwell Architecture and introduces support for second gen HBM.

GPU

It equips a GPU codenamed GP107-400 which has 6 SM activated and 768 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs. The central unit runs at 1290MHz and goes up to 1392MHz when the Boost Clock is triggered in game.

Memory

The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 3504MHz.

Power Consumption

With a rated board TDP of 75W, it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance

The GTX 1050 Ti will enable mid level graphics performance on modern AAA 2016 released games. Although there will be variations on this frame rate we expect this card to deliver around 55+ FPS on medium graphics settings at a 1080p screen resolution.
Comparatively, this card will be faster than the performance of the outgoing GTX 960

System Suggestions

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1920x1080. We recommend a modern CPU like the i5-6500 and 8GB of RAM for minimal system bottleneck.

its worth it ONLY if you find it with -20-25% cheaper than the RX 470, otherwise, not worth it (Also, if you find a R9 380/X for the same price as the 1050ti, better go for the 380/X)

You could theoretically get away with a minimum of a 300 watt PSU assuming your CPU is also very power efficient.Although, I would advise against this and for pretty much any build. Should just be a drop-in replacer for your 750ti

Don't go for GTX 1050 Ti. Buy 1060, it's more futureproof. Keep in mind that two GTX 1050 Ti don't match a GTX 1060.

its a good jump from mine GTX 960? (since i use a small HTPC case and don't have any OC headroom with my zotac AMP! GTX 960, just 5%).
because it is 75W and if i pick a 6-pin one i could overclock it sorely.

If 1050 ti can't match to the old Gtx 970, so it won't be good to upgrade from Gtx 960 to 1050 ti. Better take your time and save money for the mighty Gtx 1060

1050 Ti performs almost identical to the 960.. NOT worth the upgrade :) Save up for a 1060 like Xavior said.
