How well can the GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

The GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING is a high performing piece of gaming hardware, still confidently featuring in PC gamer computers. GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING is capable of DirectX 12 gaming requirements.

This PC hardware performance game review for the GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING graphics card, when running 2019 more popular games, lets us see what type of FPS this card gets when playing at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions and ultra settings. In terms of performance against the most demanding games today this graphics card can play 773 of the 1000 most demanding PC games beating their recommended requirements.

A GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING card at 1080p is seeing a reasonable frame rate when running Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Ultra - 46 FPS. Lets look at the performance its getting on FIFA 20 which is 138 FPS. To add a bit more variety lets see how the popular Borderlands 3 performs on this hardware, which gets a reasonable 50 FPS.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING at 1440p with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which got a playable set of FPS results. These were, Low: 92 FPS, Medium: 72 FPS, High: 49 FPS and Ultra: 35 FPS. We then checked out FIFA 20 which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 236FPS, M: 197FPS, H: 144FPS, U: 105FPS. And another popular game was Borderlands 3 that returned L: 100FPS, M: 79FPS, H: 53FPS, U: 38FPS at 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING is a very good hardware option at these screen sizes. Ultra is easily achieved across almost all games at 1440p and we would suggest an increase of screen size up to 4K for this graphics card.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for 2 to 3 years of meeting top end game system requirements

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING? If you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 26% better and can run 897 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games. An alternative great upgrade graphics card would be a R-500 Series Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB, which has 35% better performance and can run 961 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today.

GeForce GTX 1060 EVGA GAMING Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
EVGA's GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING is a small form factor single fan performance graphics card, based on the Pascal Architecture.

Architecture
It equips a GPU Codenamed P106-400-A1 which is a First Gen Pascal GPU and has 10 SM activated, offering 1280 Shader Processing Units, 80 TMUs and 48 ROPs.

GPU
The central unit runs at 1506MHz and goes up to 1708MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 6GB frame buffer of Fast GDDR5, through a 192-bit memory interface, while the Memory Clock Operates at 2002MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 120W, it requires at least a 400W PSU with one available 6-pin connector.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate that GeForce GTX 1060 offers performance just a bit lower than the GeForce GTX 980. As such, GeForce GTX 1060 is far faster than its predecessor the GeForce GTX 960 and even AMD's Radeon RX 480 seems beaten by this card.

System Suggestions
GeForce GTX 1060 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a High-End Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal gaming Performance.
