How well can the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

One of the more powerful mid range graphics cards, the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition might struggle sometimes with the more system demanding game requirements. This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2019 popular games. This short Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. This graphics hardware can run 311 of the 1000 most demanding PC games played today.

Now onto the frame rates achieved at 1080p. We are seeing The Outer Worlds getting 40 FPS with the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition, Red Dead Redemption 2 getting 28 FPS and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare getting 28 frames per second. All run on Ultra at 1920x1080 screen res.

Moving screen sizes up to 1440p we ran The Outer Worlds on the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition to see that it got a playable set of frame rates. Here are the low to ultra results at 1440p - L: 80FPS, M: 63FPS, H: 42FPS, U: 30FPS. Another popular game to test at 1440p with this card was Red Dead Redemption 2 which seemed weak in performance netting an Ultra FPS of 21 FPS. Finally we then took a look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare where its Ultra 1440p Frame rates were weak at 21 FPS. 1440p gaming on the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition is not the best resolution for this GPU, but if you adjust some graphics settings, perhaps lowering to medium or low at 1440p then this graphics card might be ok.

How many years will the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition in your PC? This Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition card has 12 to 18 months of latest AAA game play left in it before upgrading should be considered

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition? If you want an upgrade suggestion for the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition then a good choice would be 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB as this is better than 899 of the top 1000 most demanding game requirements with 95% better performance as well. Alternatively a good choice when looking to upgrade the Radeon R9 380X Gigabyte Gaming G1 4GB Edition would be the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB which meets 672 of the 1000 top game’s recommended system requirements and has 43% better performance.

the 4gb is irrelevant it probably wont even be able to use all of it with its lower bandwidth of 182.4 and 256bit bus.
