14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

A true powerhouse, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti Zotac AMP! Extreme 6GB Edition will run even the most demanding game system requirements released today. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the GeForce GTX 980 Ti Zotac AMP! Extreme 6GB Edition. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2019. This card runs recommended graphics requirements of 951 games from the top 1000 most demanding games being played today.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce GTX 980 Ti Zotac AMP! Extreme 6GB Edition can run Death Stranding at 1080p and predict it will return reasonable frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 135 FPS, Medium: 106 FPS, High: 71 FPS and Ultra: 51 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that Diablo 4 is predicted to return a reasonable 51 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

With PC gamers looking for larger screen sizes like 1440p we tested the GeForce GTX 980 Ti Zotac AMP! Extreme 6GB Edition by researching Death Stranding leading us to predict a playable performance. Its FPS predictions for the graphics settings are as follows - L: 103FPS, M: 81FPS, H: 54FPS, U: 39FPS. Another popular game we researched with this card was Diablo 4 and that was playable. This graphics card is predicted to deliver 39 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Another popular title was Cyberpunk 2077 which is predicted to get playable results with a 39FPS on Ultra 1440p. In summary we feel the GeForce GTX 980 Ti Zotac AMP! Extreme 6GB Edition running at 1440p is certainly a viable option for these higher gaming resolutions. Remember that if you suffer some 1440p FPS drops the you can usually tweak modern game graphics settings until you get a near High graphics setting experience with this Graphics card.

I'm starting to lose faith in the GPU % rating on here. It says this card is 21% better than mine. But in dx12 my card gets about 10% more performance at 4k :/

The rating is based on the overall of the total games and benchmarks from multiple games. Not just one or two or three only particular games. I think its okay.

If you play at resolution higher than 6,000,000 pixels count, you will have very little to no bottleneck at all.

This is a really late reply, but yes. At least in dx11 at 1080/1440p. At 4k it won't be too bad. And 4k dx12 it will be better. My 8350@4.6 bottlenecks my card

EXTREMELY (geddit?) powerful and outright BADASS, but unfortunately will become obsolete in 2 years. The last of it's kind of HUGE MONSTERS. It's all HBM/HMC/3DXPoint after this. This here card is an endangered species, to be extinct 100%.

r9 295x2 is the closest GPU to compare to a 980 TI. Although the 295x2 compares more to a titan X.
