How well can the GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

One of the more powerful mid range graphics cards, the GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition might struggle sometimes with the more system demanding game requirements. Capable of running games with up to a DirectX 12 requirement.

This PC hardware performance game review for the GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition graphics card, when running 2019 more popular games, lets us see what type of FPS this card gets when playing at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions and ultra settings. Of the 1000 most demanding recommended specs found in game requirements today, this gpu is more powerful than the graphics requirement of 275 games in todays list.

Running at 1080p this card gets a weak frame rate from Planet Zoo with 0 FPS on Ultra. Then we take a look at Borderlands 3 which returns a weak 19 FPS. Another title that we looked at is the popular Cyberpunk 2077 which we predict will get a weak 0 FPS.

Increasing resolution to 1440p is something a number of PC gamers are doing today. We tested the GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition at 1440p with Planet Zoo, which got a weak set of FPS results. These were, Low: 0 FPS, Medium: 0 FPS, High: 0 FPS and Ultra: 0 FPS. We then checked out Borderlands 3 which had a set of graphics results as followed, L: 37FPS, M: 29FPS, H: 20FPS, U: 14FPS. And another popular game was Cyberpunk 2077 with predictions of L: 0FPS, M: 0FPS, H: 0FPS, U: 0FPS at 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition is not a viable PC gaming choice.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition? If you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 103% better and can run 897 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games. Alternatively a good choice when looking to upgrade the GeForce GTX 960 Asus Turbo OC 2GB Edition would be the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB which meets 685 of the 1000 top game’s recommended system requirements and has 52% better performance.

I have i5-2500K and I have slight bottle neck with some more challenging games. Slight* bottleneck, running on 3700Mhz overclocked. So I guess you will have small problem.

I'd say it would work fine for the cpu. Not sure about the P5k, but if it has a slot for this card, it should work. I'd say it wouldn't work on 340W, lets say 500W is pretty much fine.

Don't think it will be any problem, 460W should be more enough for that GPU ;)

The 12V Rail is quite weak. It only delivers 18A and that's if the PSU is brand new.
GTX 960 consumes at most 120W.
Your PSU: 18 * 12 = 216W.
It will be tough since that Processor of yours aims for 125W. That's why we recommend at least 29A.

It should be enough for GTX 980. I can't say the same for R9 390X because its TDP is yet unknown but I doubt it..
