14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

Gamers upgrading will be considering the GeForce GTX 980 EVGA FTW ACX 2.0 4GB Edition graphics card as a serious price to performance entry point. This card will meet and play most demanding AAA games and do so with good graphics setting as standard, and confidently pushing past the recommended game system requirements needed to run today’s games. All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.

What FPS performance can the GeForce GTX 980 EVGA FTW ACX 2.0 4GB Edition get on latest AAA 2019 games? In particular our game review looks at the FPS achieved running on Ultra graphics settings on the 1080p screen resolution as well as 1440p and 4K. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 856.

With 1080p being the most common gaming resolution at the moment we explored how well the GeForce GTX 980 EVGA FTW ACX 2.0 4GB Edition can run Need For Speed Heat at 1080p and saw it return reasonable frame rates at the following graphics settings - Low: 143 FPS, Medium: 112 FPS, High: 76 FPS and Ultra: 54 FPS. For performance contrast we can see that FIFA 20 returns a strong 150 FPS at Ultra 1080p.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we booted up Need For Speed Heat to see how the GeForce GTX 980 EVGA FTW ACX 2.0 4GB Edition dealt with it. It scored up a playable series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 109 FPS, Medium: 86 FPS, High: 58 FPS and Ultra: 41 FPS. Next we looked at FIFA 20 which was strong with a 115 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Diablo 4 that we predict will get an Ultra 1440p FPS of 31. Gaming at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 980 EVGA FTW ACX 2.0 4GB Edition is a solid performer with higher resolution modern gaming. This graphics card can also bump up to 4K gaming regularly with the latest games still being capable of high or ultra graphics settings at this level.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 980 EVGA FTW ACX 2.0 4GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 980 EVGA FTW ACX 2.0 4GB Edition in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for 2 to 3 years of meeting top end game system requirements

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 980 EVGA FTW ACX 2.0 4GB Edition? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 20 Series GeForce RTX 2060 3GB GDDR6 which is 20% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 899 games from the most demanding games today. Alternatively we would suggest getting a R-500 Series Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB, as it can run 961 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today with 24% increased graphics performance.

These cards have been wonderful for both me. Aside from a few driver errors (thats on nvidias end) Things have been great. Getting 70fps on most games.
