How well can the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

One of the more powerful mid range graphics cards, the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition might struggle sometimes with the more system demanding game requirements. DirectX 12 gaming system requirements will be met by this gpu.

Here we take a closer look at the various performances across 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions for the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition. In particular this is looking at the Ultra graphics settings to see what sort of FPS this graphics card can get across some of the more popular games played in 2019. 267 games can be played by this graphics card of the 1000 most demanding games being played by PC gamers today.

A GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition card at 1080p is seeing a weak frame rate when running Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Ultra - 15 FPS. Lets look at the performance its getting on FIFA 20 which is 88 FPS. To add a bit more variety lets see how the popular Microsoft Flight Simulator is predicted to perform on this hardware, which gets a weak 0 FPS.

With PC gamers looking for larger screen sizes like 1440p we tested the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition by playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which yielded a weak performance. Its FPS results for the graphics settings are as follows - L: 30FPS, M: 24FPS, H: 16FPS, U: 11FPS. Another popular game we tested with this card was FIFA 20 and that was good. This graphics card delivered 67 FPS at Ultra 1440p. Another popular title was Microsoft Flight Simulator which is predicted to get weak results with a 0FPS on Ultra 1440p. Getting popular modern games to run at 1440p on the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition is not a bad choice for a larger screen size like this. Some games will struggle though, but with some careful graphic option adjustments in-game you can normally find a suitable visual experience with this GPU at 1440p.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition in your PC? 12-18 months of top end gaming is still left in this graphics card

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB Edition? Upgrading this graphics card would have us consider the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB which is 101% more powerful. This upgrade choice can also run 897 games from the most demanding games today. Alternatively if you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the RX 5000 Series Radeon RX 5500 4GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 48% better and can run 668 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games.

I got this card, awesome for overclocking and boosts up to 1417 MHz by itself. Temps usually never exceed 70c and the fans barely need to spin and aren't even audible. Great card, I love it for gaming.

The 960 can't use more than 2gb, unless you set it in SLI. So if you aren't going for SLI buy the 2GB version. If you however buy two or more cards then you should go for the 4gb version ;)

No, the card alone takes 120W with 2x6-pins, then you have CPU, RAM, HDD, monitor and inputs that also consume some wattage. Minimum listed here are a 400W PSU, so I don't think it will be any good idea to try with a 320W PSU, sorry :/

I get your point, and I do think PSU booster for a GPU are great idea :) My though was just to be sure that the PSU booster does fit and work with your current PSU. the HP Compaq 8000 has a PFC active powersuply, so the PSU Booster should work great with your computer ;)

If you do have the money a new i5 setup would be a better investment in the long run; as CPUs have a longer lifespan than most GPUs. Your current CPU might bottleneck a 960 slightly, but with an i5 you're futureproof for later upgrade to most mid-high end GPUs in the upcoming years ;)

I have this card, and if you overclock it a little more It performs Witcher 3 All Settings on Ultra in 45 FPS. If you bump down the SSAA to Off and some other tesselation stuff to low or off, Wither 3 Runs at 60 fps with everything on Ultra

According to Game-Debate, as well as other sites, this version of the GTX 960 seems to be one of the most powerful 960s, if not the most. It edges out the MSI Gaming/OC, EVGA SC, SSC, FTW and Asus Strix versions. Have this in my GFs build, it's quiet and the fans don't turn on until it reaches -60*C and it has LED lights on the side :)
