Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit now runs at 1190MHz, instead of 1127MHz and goes up to 1253MHz, in Turbo Mode.
Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock and the Frame Buffer remain the same.
Cooling Solution
The reference NVIDIA Single-Fan Cooling System has been replaced by MSI's Dual Fan Twin Frozr V Cooling Solution. This means the card runs cooler under load.

Someone know if my CPU will botteneck this card?
nahh its going to be good match
Thank you, in case I'll overclock it
Hello guys i have this gpu for some time now, when it is under load
it makes a noise something like coil whine but more mild.
Has anyone had a problem like that ?
Hi yes..I have the card for 1 and a half months now, when I run certain games a hear a slight coil whine which comes and goes but the card still runs fine..
Although when the card runs hot sometimes like 61 degrees a funny smell almost like burning rubber or heat comes from my box hope it does not explode..i have a 600w psu
Thanks for the reply.
Although i have never experienced that heat problem you described.
When I run in OC mode the whining usually happens which means maybe the core clock goes to high for my specific card to handle.im fine in gaming mode and oc mode for me is no difference in fps
Is this gpu a good upgrade for me? And also if i overclock my cpu and get 4 more gbs of RAM will anything bottleneck?
aim for gtx 970 and get 8 gigs of RAM
from gt 440 to 960 id say yes if u don't have a higher budget…its a good card. But get the gigabyte windforce version its the best
Should i upgrade my gpu with this one?
Not really, aim at least for gtx970
yes you should
This or R9 380 2g? will my cpu bottleneck gpu? also, i have 500w power supply is it enough? thanks for answers.
Wrong info. 8 pin instead of 6. And a 42A PSU. It says on the box…
Had to buy a new PSU and a vga to dvi-i connector. Had to spend 90 euro more on that.
Thanks buddy.
Your welcome. Altho I believe the 29A 400W is correct. It says on the MSI website. 6 or +2 pins might differ per brand or even country maybe.
Actually this GPU has 3 Display port connections.
Nope I have a 450w psu and it works just fine.actually 29 amps is correct..it needs one 8 pin total power draw is 120w..
120w is the TDP of the reference card, TDP stands for thermal design power or how much heat the GPU can output and how good of a cooler you need to cool it measured in watts and 3rd party companies don't change that, but the matter of the fact is that TDP is NOT power consumption.
This card is factory overclocked up to 1253 from 1127 so you can expect it consume as much as a stock gtx 970. Otherwise if your PSU has the 8x pin connector 29 amps on the +12V rail are plenty enough for this GPU.

Stock GTX 970? Don't overdo it lol
well it's a hefty overclock and the stock gtx 970 does NOT consume that much more than the stock gtx 960.
yeah but I assume this one may get to 130W. Don't forget that the reference GTX 960 consumes on average no more than 110W.
Good for my cpu?
yes it is
Is my Mobo compatible with this video card? Please answer.tnx
Yes but your CPU will bottleneck it.
will there be a problem with my cpu and this card (I want to use it as an external graphic card)
It will be bottlenecked…that's for sure :P
will it be a problem ?
In some games…
but when my cpu can handle the game i can play it just with higher graphic settings than now ?
Yes you should be able to almost all games on High. Only Very CPU intensive games might struggle.
nice to hear
or do you know a better gpu match with for my cpu ? and can i play games in 1080p on high settings with this card ?
Try some i5 quadcore…. i5 3450 for example, it is not too expensive
pls i need to know :(
GeForce GTX 960 is probably more adequate but you are better off with GTX 970, even if it's bottlenecked by your Processor.
and yes, all games should be playable at High Settings on 1080p.
but gtx970 is so expensive :( is it really worth it ? what is even the advantage ?
Well to be honest with that processor :(
so better stick to the gtx960
Yeah I guess…
I think your laptop is quite balanced. Both components are quite average.
Try building a desktop. You are better off :)
and how about a gtx 770 (sorry for all this questions)
That's not a good buy. It's too power hungry expensive.
ok, I guess that's it thanks for all the answers :) you really helped me alot
my pleasure :)
good for my cpu?
Yeap. Very Good Match :)
The minimum PSU is 400W with a current of 42A over 12V, almost no 400W PSU is capable of delivering 42A. So had to buy a 550W PSU
