How well can the GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition run games
14 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p. GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition is capable of DirectX 12 gaming requirements.

We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2019 popular games. This short GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. This graphics hardware can run 561 of the 1000 most demanding PC games played today.

The GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition graphics card is returning a playable performance on Planet Zoo at 1080p of 27 frames per second at Ultra graphics settings. Another popular title that is good to benchmark graphics cards against is Borderlands 3 which we saw got playable frame rates of 44 FPS. A third game we can look at on Ultra at 1080p is the popular Red Dead Redemption 2, which was getting 44 FPS under tests.

Next up we increase screen res tests to accommodate the growing in popularity 1440p screen size. So we booted up Planet Zoo to see how the GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition dealt with it. It scored up a weak series of FPS results across these graphics presets - Low: 53 FPS, Medium: 42 FPS, High: 28 FPS and Ultra: 20 FPS. Next we looked at Borderlands 3 which was playable with a 33 FPS at Ultra 1440p. And finally looked at Red Dead Redemption 2 that got an Ultra 1440p FPS of 33. Gaming at 1440p with the GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition is a perfectly suitable selection of hardware for theis larger screen size. If a game at 1440p struggles a bit or experiences a frame drop then you can tweak settings in game to help get it stable. This might mean lowering it to medium or low in some specific options.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition in your PC? Upgrade time for this GPU is currently placed at 2 years

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 970 Leadtek WinFast 4GB Edition? If you are thinking of upgrading this graphics card then we would currently suggest the 16 Series GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB. This PC hardware upgrade performs 41% better and can run 897 of today’s 1000 most demanding PC games. Alternatively we would suggest getting a R-500 Series Radeon RX 590 8GB, as it can run 859 of the top 1000 demanding game requirements today with 22% increased graphics performance.
