How well can the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB run games
28 Nov 2019 - Graphics card reviewed

One of the more powerful mid range graphics cards, the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB might struggle sometimes with the more system demanding game requirements. This card meets game requirements up to DirectX 12.

Here is a quick game performance synopsis for the AAA games played in 2019. In particular we focus on how well the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB runs at Ultra graphics settings and what frames per second it is getting at 1080p, 1440p and 4K monitor resolutions. When considering how well this graphics card can run the 1000 most demanding games available today it can best 330 of the games’ recommended graphics requirements.

Looking at some of the modern popular games people are playing today the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB is running Halo: Reach and delivering strong performances on 1080p Ultra, getting 103 frames per second. Comparing this to Cyberpunk 2077 which is predicted to get weak results, where it averages 8 FPS. Another popular game we looked at is Borderlands 3, which is running at 30 frames per second.

We move on to 1440p, and tested Halo: Reach which delivered good FPS results. Here are the graphic presets - Low: 206 FPS, Medium: 163 FPS, High: 109 FPS and Ultra: 78 FPS. Next we have Cyberpunk 2077 running on GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB which is predicted to get L: 16FPS, M: 13FPS, H: 9FPS, U: 6FPS. And for performance contrast the popular Borderlands 3 gets L: 59FPS, M: 47FPS, H: 32FPS, U: 23FPS at 1440p. 1440p gaming on the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB is a reasonable choice at this screen size. You can always tweak modern game graphics settings to help you get a better High graphics setting experience at 1440p.

How many years will the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB in your PC? Our current calculations suggest a graphics card upgrade will be required in around 12-18 months

Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB? GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB is an upcoming high-end Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Maxwell architecture.

Architecture
The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GM204-200-KD which has 12 SM activated and thus offers 1536 Shader Processing Units, 96 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The central unit runs at ????MHz and goes up to ????MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1753MHz.

Features
DirectX 12.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 140W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with one available 6-pin connector.

Performance
Coming Soon!

System Suggestions
We recommend a very strong processor (Intel Core i5 Quad Core/AMD FX Eight Core) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB.

Look at the 660 Ti. It was nearly identical to the 670 as well, apart from the clockspeeds and the memory bus.
